Absence on Google

Do any admins know why we don't come up on the first page of Google searches of either "Rovers Forum" or "Rovers Message Board"?

Roverstalk is on its arse so we've easily overtaken them in activity, making us 2nd for Rovers boards. Yet even ghost sites like Roversmad, Vital Blackburn and Roversnet come up when we don't.

Just thinking it seems of critical importance to attracting new members and even opposition fans to add a bit of flavour.

It's something that concerns me a lot. If we showed up on google we would have a lot more traffic but I think you have to have more traffic to get onto google. It appears to be a self defeating concept.
Is there nothing we can do about it Amo?

I simply google 'roversfans' and even without the .com it comes straight up.

Yep that works but not if you google "Blackburn Rovers Fans" which most people looking for a forum will do so they won't find us. They will find Roverstalk, Vital Football, Lancashire Telegraph, Roverschat, Fans Forum and all sorts of crap like that. Anything but our site. It's shit that but what can we do about it?

For any start-up site, it can take awhile to get fully indexed on Google. Search engines tend to favour sites that are older and still active. There are a host of other Rovers fansites that have been around a long time (some to remain nameless ;)) that we're competing with. If you want to help raise our profile, publishing backlinks to our content on social media is a good way to spread the word. Just don't get spammy with it.
Well I've added it to wikipedia though the jobsworth mods on there will probably find some reason to remove it. If people haven't already send out an email asking inactive members to contribute a little more. There's good posters like OOJW and Duncan Miller out there who could make reading the site even more worthwhile.

I must have a different Google to you. What did you Google? I tried Rovers Fans and Wikipedia and didn't find it.

I think we are at cross purposes. I know that takes us to THIS site. What I was looking for was the Wikipedia site that Vinjay says he has set up. Still can't find that.

Cheers Vinjay that's a bloody good idea. Let's hope that somebody from BRFCS doesn't alter it! I suppose it can always be altered back anyway.
EDIT
Found it now. Nobody else seems to have done it. We may get some fans finding us from there with luck.
