Boring obsession with Northcote!
Went to the Griffins Head last Friday for my son's 40th birthday. It's not cheap but the food was excellent and served piping hot. There were 17 of us all ordering different meals but they all came out together. I had mussels in wine and cream sauce and (I know I can be boring sometimes) the best fish and chips I have ever had in my life. Not just the size but the quality. The fish was as light as a feather and truly melt in the mouth. The only downside is that it is very busy on a Friday evening and tends to be noisy.

I have to say that when we go out on a Saturday evening Blackburn doesn’t even come into consideration.

I don't know for certain about laundering but damn sure believe something seriously crooked went down with the trustees, Walker family and Venkys.
If you think that's boring Al here's my one word reply. Tough. I could understand you being bored if it was every single day but it isn't. A few times a month is more than justifiable.
That article is absolutely pathetic. Used to be a newspaper (at least with anything Peter White wrote) now its a propaganda device for backstabbing scum in Monaco. They can try to mislead people that Howarth and Bancroft are the owners just like the trustees lied about not bowing down to the family at every bloody turn. They aren't they are just a pair of arrogant mates of Matthewman who have some catering qualifications.

There is a lot of competition on the outskirts that's for sure but if E Mano, Turtle Bay and another Italian which is to open soon are attracting punters from out of town then Northcote needs to cash in too. Another reason might well be the council calling the tune by subsidising the business rates. It is their intention to re-vitalise the nightlife in the town centre and subsidising rates for businesses who close the doors in the evening is not the intention.
No it's not. If you are not on about Northcote it's the Walkers. We all know your views, you've repeated them often enough, and I for one have heard enough of them. I would have you on ignore if I knew how to do it but I don't. Has it never occurred to you why you get so many bans?
"Tough?" I would try not to be so abrasive if I were you. It's not very pleasant.
"Yawn" is pretty abrasive. Did a search and prior to today I haven't mentioned Northchoke on here (or the other spelling) since October 13th. So its not like I'm going on about Northchoke every 5 minutes though admittedly I've taken digs at the Walkers in general as well.
If you're expecting me to mention them once a year at most that's never gonna happen. In the past I was far more abrasive and unpleasant towards other posters. Abbey's been criticised and nearly driven off the board for his constant digs at Venkys. While my views on NAPM aren't as strong (largely because I don't think Venkys are enriching themselves on ticket sales) I don't blame him why shouldn't he? I take numerous digs at Venkys as well though it does not stand out as much because most people do to an extent. I mention the Walkers/trustees a lot and that stands out more because I was the first to do it often and even now moreso than anyone else does. Some people may accuse me of hating them more than Venkys (I do think Jack would feel more hurt by his family than anything else) but its frustration that many still don't pin enough blame on them for what's happened. You have to remember that I had to put up with Lingard's lies and smearing of me for years (not to mention criticism from others) and that has a mental effect you know?
I think the Walker family were in on the whole plot with Anderson in the beginning (Venkys were taken for a ride by him in my view but never learn from their ignorance) and the trustees bowed down to pressure from the family no matter whether it was Anderson finding the buyer or anyone else. They starved the club for years so its not just the takeover shenanigans. I'll never forgive them and its too late for Venkys as well.
Anyway this is a restaurant thread and I did keep it on topic you know? Northchoke being pretentious is my opinion of places like that and pubs (such as their Ribble Valley Inns brand but countless others too) that think they are upmarket. Right that's said and now I'm gonna take a couple of days off from posting because I don't enjoy writing defensive long winded rants (even justified ones) like this.
