Not sure where you're going with this. Shrewsbury is a historic market town with an attractive town centre and several black and white timbered buildings amidst the curving River Severn. The point I am trying to make is that it's a pleasant sort of place, there are good pubs as well as eateries...

I would imagine they do but those in Shrewsbury look to be quite nice and not the sort where you may think, bloody hell, I'm not going in there.

I'll be definitely going to Shrewsbury on the train. As BB says, a lovely town with plenty of pubs. Been on Gay Meadow but not the new ground. Train wise, it's Preston to Crewe then change for Shrewsbury another 30 mins away.
