"Suddenly". Leaving 3 children. That's tragic.

This is one of their best in my book.

Not a fine day.
RIP Sir Ken. Always made me chuckle. Apparently he lived in the same house all his life.

Once went to see him at KGH. We left at 10:30pm and the lady on the door said, "keep hold of your tickets if you're coming back in for the second half". We thought she was joking.
The show finished after midnight!!

I was older and whilst I recognise Dodd's comic genius I never could stand all that diddymen shit.

Ptretty sure he'd have made a gag of dying on the same day as Stephen Hawkins if he'd known.

Great player until dartitis ended his time at the top. 60’s nothing is it these days.
Whilst I respected his ability WB I can’t say that I ever actually admired him tbh. The typical image being his cocky sneer as he took 3 darts out of whatever double he needed with nicotine stained fingers whilst inevitably holding a fag before returning to the table and having another swig on his pint. Not the perfect role model for kids to follow was he?
Odd thing that as bristow was popularising darts like no one had managed to do before the other ‘pub’ sport snooker had been popularised by Steve Davies. Two opposites in terms of public image.

I think his cocky "I'm gonna beat you" arrogance resonated with me as a youth :)

Agree on the smoking and drinking aspects. Snooker had em too. Was it Big Bill Werbeniuk who had about 7 pints before the first frame started?
