Burnley 2- 1 Everton. HT scoreline 0-1. Burnley's winless run comes to an end and see's them on the all important 40 points which guarantees them another £100m!

Two poor teams but Burnley always looked the most likely winners due to their professionalism and the fact that right across the pitch they 'thought' a second faster than Everton whilst Everton's CH pairing of Keane and the woeful Williams were all at sea. Too many Everton players seemed to be content in just going through the motions.
Mickey mousers won't be happy, Rovers fans won't be either but I'll bet there are a few on here who are absolutely ecstatic.:p

Mate of mine who is a long time Bolton supporter started a conversation about Allardyce with me in the pub last night. Same pattern developing again which happens at every club he's managed. Club in the shyte they want him to save them..... get them safe they love him..... once safe they think they are better than they are and turn to hate him...... and as soon as he's gone they get relegated, decide they really do love him and want him back.

Not necessarily. Hoofsters would never have signed the likes of Djorkaeff, Campo, Anelka, Okocha, Walcott and EHD twice would they?

Allardyce going back 15/20 years was innovative regarding sports science, playing the percentage game and maximising limited resources to their best potential. All the players Gordon highlights could and did make a difference in the final third based on playing the percentage game. I agree with Abbey, it is hoofball and it's shit to watch and football in the PL has moved on.

Sam himself, whilst being a leader in innovation years ago, has failed to move on. He has however made an absolute personal fortune from being potted, not to mention the income supplements from other extra-curricular activities.

Along with Wenger, Pulis, Pardew and even Morinho, in todays football world they've become dinosaurs.

It's undoubted that Big Sam is the man to turn to to get a club out of the shit at the bottom of the league - done it too many times for it to be a fluke.
However, whenever he's had financial backing (Everton and Newcastle) he's bombed. I don't subscribe to the theory that his squad at Everton is weak, Jagielka was an England regular 18 months ago and could replace the hapless Williams, there's good young talent in Davies, Calvert Lewin, Holgate and Lookman alongside good solid performers like Sigurdsson, Rooney, Coleman and Walcott. He could and should be doing better there.
The problem for me is that he is a legend in his own mind and firmly believes he can manage a top club, the records suggest otherwise. It would've been interesting had he been in the England job for a length of time but his arrogance and greed put paid to that. Sadly, there will always be a large faction of football supporters who remember him for his arrogance rather than his managerial abilities.

As usual Theno ignores the complete and utter insensitivity of Allardyce and his poisonous egotism. If I had any kids its people like Allardyce who would make me do everything I could to dissuade them from any interest in football. What kind of role model is he? He sucks the enthusiasm out of people and Everton fans are miserable. You're saying only Allardyce could have pulled Everton out of trouble? Granted he's got that track record at least but there's a difference between Everton's squad and some of the others he's managed. Its like saying Parkes was a genius in 1997 for managing to survive despite the assets at his disposal. I think in reality its true what Sutton said in his book about the players basically managing themselves. I'm certainly not saying Parkes served no purpose (I think the players saw him as someone they could talk to in confidence) but anyone who wanted him as permanent manager after Harford left needed their head tested.

Everton fans have more self respect and won't suffer egotistical prats as much as Rovers fans did though they certainly have their faults. I'm sure he will be gone in the summer and that's the right call because they should be pushing for Europe next season not avoiding relegation or plodding along in midtable.

Some of them think he's even more arrogant than Koeman! At least Koeman had a pretty distinguished playing career not some fat clogger who's somehow acquired an ego way beyond his actual talents.

If a terminally ill kid told Allardyce he didn't care for his style of football the fat git would smirk and just let the criticism bounce off him. No concept of sensitivity or regard for anyones feelings. He might be relegation teflon man (though so was John Williams allegedly and look how that's turned out) but he's sensitivity teflon man as well.

OK maybe I went a bit overboard there (Allardyce isn't anything like Kean who's genuinely pure sociopathic evil) but you need to be told Theno. Why are so many people fed up of his tiresome arrogance? Just for once think about how they feel instead of championing him and his egotism at every turn.

What I mean by sociopathic evil is Kean's complete and utter disregard for people's feelings and being a complete leech. Its a different kind of evil to taking pleasure in torturing someone just for kicks (I can't really imagine Kean doing anything that sick) that's more satanic evil. Sociopaths in many cases simply don't understand feelings or have a conscience but they don't essentially want to kill or maim anyone. Neither would they take pleasure in it but their emotional vacuum is still evident in other ways. I have issues with emotional emptiness (talking more anhedonia not temper issues) and despite sometimes being insensitive at least I can express some empathy and regard for people's feelings. There are exceptions (I wouldn't shed a tear if something happened to the Raos though what would happen with any debt writeoffs in such an event?) but to feel such strong contempt comes with emotional baggage. I'm still a human being. Granted I sometimes take vicious pleasure in attacking certain people (no prizes for guessing who) but even that can weigh on my mind at times and make me look at myself in a negative light.

Anyway stuff yer adenoids vinjay....... can we get back to discussing the qualities and personal skills required for top level football management? Whatever they are I'm pretty sure you don't possess them. :p

I don't possess them (though I certainly think I would be a good, no nonsense club owner) but I can evaluate the skills of others quite well. Its fair to question what Allardyce might do next season and whether he might push for Europe. I don't think he will be there anyway so I guess you think Everton will be relegated next year without Allardyce single handedly keeping them afloat.

Whatever his qualities are (and he has some I've acknowledged this) I don't think they match what Everton's ambitions should be. Even if he did there's still this aura of arrogance about him and while its not exactly an uncommon trait for football managers at least people like Mourinho back it up. I'm surprised he hasn't said he looks in the mirror and sees one of the world's top models staring back at him. Rather than some fat guy who looks like he's chewing on a wasp. If the man was chocolate he would eat himself.

I see your other idol Lowe has seen off yet another manager. Monk will truly need divine intervention if his first move isn't kicking Lowe out the door. Misery magnet.

Ohhh Eck it's John beck..
Sam's a love child
I think Big Sam's love child is currently Big Sean, another no nonsense 'clogger' from his playing days. On Saturday the apprentice got one over on the master . Having said that Big Sean has had 5 years ( ?) to mould Burnley into one of the best run , best managed clubs in the country . Fancy that, the Dingles, yes the Dingles , with their hands out waiting for the next £100 million plus . I can just hear their fans - " yeah but it's not worth it , crap football , Fat Sean is a hoofster " Unfortunately highly unlikely . Yes there were quite a lot of empty seats at Turf Moor on Saturday , but that's down to a poor support base

Everton fans have always had a high opinion of themselves and their club. - The School of Science and all that . Big Sam comes in gets them out of relegation trouble and now their fans say " Hold on we're the School of Science - get rid " When will these clubs ever learn ? Get rid of Big Sam and you'll end up lower than you were when he left - maybe Everton think they'll be the exception to the rule.

I hope and pray the Dingles do get too big for their boots , think they should be playing the football they did under Harry Potts and Jimmy Adamson and get rid of Big Sean .
