I read in The Times today that Booths are for sale as Edwin Booth has appointed Rochchild’s to solicit bids. Waitrose and Safeway are interested. I am aware that Waitrose have tabled bids before.

It will be sad to see it go.

It will. There's been talk that waitrose have been sniffing around for some time.

Booths is the crème de la crème of supermarkets. I hope that if someone else buys it they keep the name and the quality.

We use both, and Waitrose. Never go near Tesco and Asda. Meat, fish and fruit and veg we get from local people.

There was a piece on Radio Lancs this afternoon saying it was not for sale
