I don't have a lot of interest in boxing unless a top British boxer is involved or maybe Muhammad Ali when he was around.

Well Saunders is the WBO middleweight world title holder so you could argue he's a top British boxer. Pity he's a bit of a plonker like his best pal Fury :p

That fight in Liverpool tonight is part of a series for the "Muhammad Ali Trophy". Not sure whether he would be honoured or offended. I don't know enough about the competitors to know.

No the calibre won't do it justice imo it's all been set to promote George Groves whose now going to benefit from the void created by the established top Super middleweights of recent years either retiring, moving up a weight or getting old.

Smith is a genuine threat but I think Groves beats him in the final, in a quality division these 2 would probably just be the best of the British and European scene certainly not worldies for me.

Never heard of him. That doesn't mean a lot though at my level of interest.

Well it was a tough fight for Smith and I don't think it'll be long before he gets found out like his brothers. Nice lads, good domestic, Euro level fighters but not elite.

Saunders a useful workout but typical stuff from Munroe Jnr he had a go for a couple of rounds, took a few shots then went into his shell. Thought he was going to quit on his stool a few times he's certainly never been a fighter who's going to leave it all in the ring.
Saunders will get murdered by GGG or Canelo if he fights either next.

GGG v Canelo what can you say ? I had a £1 at 25-1 for a draw, seen it so so many times in USA they always have a tame judge. Mayweather absolutely mugged Canelo for 12 rounds but one just scored it a draw. He's a Mexican cash machine he'll have to be ko'ed to be beaten unless he fights oversees.

Missed the Saunders one ..
Smith will lose to either groves or eubank . Was a good fight though .
What can be said about ggg and alv..I scored a draw in my head and I'd say an argument could be had for each judges card. Lived up to the hype. Gutted I normally stick a five on draw and forgot to this time ha....

You didn't miss owt with the Saunders one, both southpaws so that rarely makes a good fight. Very similar fighting styles so they ended up clashing heads or clinching throwing the same shots at each other.

Saunders been out a while so decent workout I suppose but he was blowing hard after 5 rounds and Munroe stood off till the 12th, missed a chance big style but he's no heart for taking a risk.

Gutted I forgot that Daniel Dubous or whatever his correct name was fighting, he was 15/8 to win first round. Printing money that !

GGG vs Alvarez last night was a really good, hard fought fight. Both threw some real bombs that would've taken lesser men's heads off, but both stood up to it unscathed. GGG basically stalked him down and hounded him all fight with Canelo ducking and weaving and moving brilliantly, throwing a few of his own. One right hand came from his toes in the 10th (I think) that should've flattened Golovkin thrice over, but the man is made of iron!

For me GGG should've won by 2 rounds. One of the judges ridiculously marked it 118/110 in favour of Alvarez and quite frankly must've had her seat facing away from the ring to come up with that result. Can't wait for the rematch!

Missed Smith, but got it recorded to watch later.

The slugger and the prancer aka Parker v Fury is on YouTube PPV believe it or not

Would imagine Campbell is on Sky at daft o'clock.

Another bullshit decision by the judges. Incredibly boring fight, but a decent defensive display from Fury. He could've and should've let fly with a few more punches, instead of just jabbing and moving all fight, but I had it Fury's by a good 3 or 4 rounds. Parker could barely get near him, his feet were just too slow to change direction and plant himself to take the fight to Fury.

Apart from that though, did you see the bloody size of Tyson Fury? Looks like the fat git hasn't been holding back on the pies since calling it a day!

Thought the result was right although some scoring way off again but Fury didn't connect enough. Got the impression that they thought it was in the bag and all he had to do was turn up and keep out of range and he'd coast the decision, sorry but you've got to do more.

He'll learn though but there's tougher tests than that as Parker confirmed again what he is, just a slugger a bit like the early version of Chisora with more clout.

As for Tyson Fury what else can be said apart from he'll never get in the shape he was ever again I don't think and he doesn't really give a toss he's a walking bag of contradictions and excuses. He likes a craic though, pics of him larking about in Parkers dressing room doing the rugby chants with them with his shirt off, he's in awful shape he really is.

You tube ppv ? Wtf
Will find a stream in hotel when I get back
Well why not? There's on demand movies on Youtube perhaps no Tv channel wanted it. Everton had to show a European match on Youtube earlier this season as no channel took it. Some sports streaming sites show stuff like Boxing, MMA and independent wrestling. Go Fight Live for instance.

I didn't even realise there was a fight yesterday. Heard something about a Fury relative but thought it was next week. I happened to be in Manchester yesterday and passed through Victoria (you mentioned lack of security on LU recently Abbey I saw a few cops near entrance but that was it and they may have been there specifically for the boxing event) early in the evening. It didn't appear to be flocking with boxing fans hence why I didn't realise it was yesterday. Have to admit I didn't feel like it was some defiant act of bravery walking through the station.

I doubt the place was anywhere near a sell out so that might explain lack of visible boxing fans. Most who follow the HW's expected this to be a bit lame. No idea why they saw fit to charge for it on YouTube but I feel sorry for those who did I watched it on a stream via twitter for nowt :grinning:
