By that logic, revoke any opinion you've made on any non-Rovers player you haven't seen live week-in, week-out.
You make a valid point but most players people discuss are in the Premier League and get plenty of TV coverage whilst for the past few years out TV time has been about 3/4 minutes of highlights or even less which invariably doesn't include much midfield action.

Oh well..... have it your way.

I guess I'm just a better judge of a player's worth to the team effort than you amo.

Somebody should warn them. He's robbed a living from more than enough clubs now and I didn't believe that he would ever get another job in football with his abysmal record.

Yeah because its not like other managers with even worse records get jobs.

Are there managers with even worse records?
Slade (also linked with Rovers last summer) keeps getting jobs with Grimsby in midtable mediocrity right now. Tony Adams never fails to be a comedic buffoon whenever someone is foolish enough to employ him as manager. Peter Taylor (also linked with Rovers a few years ago) just took over Gillingham temporarily didn't he? Heard in his last stint which was permanent the fans hated him. Good timing though considering their visit to Ewood this weekend.

Not surprised someone in Scotland took Coyle on. Not exactly a ton of brilliant contenders for clubs like Ross County are there? They could have gone with an "up and comer" of course but who's to say if it hadn't been Coyle it wouldn't be another "tried and tested" failure.

Oldham fans at my work can breath again. Apparently Coyle was linked with them earlier in the week.
They had Dunn as their manager. After that anything must seem like a blessing. Of course Dunn took the easy step of returning to Rovers after he got fired rather than interviewing for positions elsewhere.

A quick list of high profile but dreadful Manager's that kept getting employed. Needless to say way beyond my comprehension.
Schteve McClaren
Bryan Robson.
Roy Kean.
Woy.
SGE.
O'Neill

Off the top of my head that lot. There will of course be more.

None of them are "dreadful" aside from Robson though I have strong contempt for Keane and Sven. Far worse examples though you do note your list is high profile. Before O'Neill failed at Sunderland (join the club who hasn't in recent years besides Allardyce admittedly) he was good everywhere he went. Kinda like Allardyce in some ways with his teams not always renowned for purity but he was a safe appointment. Never quite got to the top level so he's like Allardyce there as well. Won something too with Leicester something Allardyce couldn't do with anyone. Also got Celtic to a European final though maybe that's a bit overrated. Hodgson of course did the same with Fulham who were not expected finalists either.

I would contend that Coyle is a worse manager than any of them. Had his last 3 English clubs on the road to relegation before he was sacked. There is one manager worse than him though but I hesitate to mention his name on here.

I'd agree Al but I did say 'high profile but dreadful'. I'd never say Coyle was high profile .... that's for that Alan Nixon to make a dick of himself with.

Vinjay.... Imagine Mowbray resigns tomorrow and all those names apply for the job .... who would you go for to get the best out of our squad and lead us to promotion? I expect you'll go for O'Neill but I wouldn't cos there's just something about him that I can't take to.

Hodgson definitely. I know you don't think he's any good but you're thinking about the top level. In L1 perhaps you would rank him much higher. The only issue would be that he was here before (and his age) but it wasn't all bad. He had some horrendous bad luck with injuries though admittedly his signings were generally poor. I still believe he would have made a better go than Kidd at avoiding relegation though it may not have been enough to secure his job. The football in his early months is still a big highlight for me though maybe it is a little "rose tinted" because 97-98 was my first season after all.

O'Neill would be 2nd for me from that list though. You might not like him personally but that shouldn't impact your viewpoint to the extent you call him dreadful. I don't care much for Allardyce personally but I've never said he was an awful manager.

Eriksson isn't dreadful (though in recent roles he probably just signed up for the paycheck) but his conduct in 96-97 was despicable. Its a disgrace that Rovers fans didn't abuse him heavily whenever he appeared at Ewood in later years.
