Apparently they looked at doing the same to Burnley but a spokesman said that their rules didn't allow a team to finish a season on a minus points total

Having issued this to what is still a big club despite their barren years, it'll be interesting to see if any other clubs fall foul of this in the near future. Chelsea must be a prime candidate, their income from gates and other revenue must be dwarfed by clubs like Utd or Liverpool, yet as has been widely reported, they've spent over a billion quid on transfer fees alone in the last year or so. I bet it's real eye opener to what lengths some of these clubs and their financial experts will go to "stretch" the rules.

Another thing I've just learned watching the story is that the FFP rules allow a club to lose £105 million in 3 seasons, apparently Everton lost about £125 million. Crazy figures and another example of how money at the top end of our game has got totally out of hand and will slowly kill the interest of fans who support any club other than the elite few. The gaps never been bigger and it's getting bigger by the season, you only have to look at the bottom of the Premier table and the top of the Championship.

Always going to be a top defender imo. We just got him too early. Harwood Bellis was not as good a defender but a better footballer. They'd be a good combination in a year or two like Charlton and Moore.

I doubt the Leeds, Burnley and Leicester actions will come to fruition but if they do they are sure to affect football finances, might help to curb the stupid transfer and salary figures that we see.

Everton pleaded guilty while City and Chelsea deny the charges. The issue at Everton appears to be the severity of their punishment. I suspect that City and Chelsea will have the best lawyers around and will worm themselves out of a major penalty and may even get off without sanction…..I hope not.

All this has taken some time since FFP came in despite most people being amazed that the likes of City and Chelsea were escaping sanction and taking the piss.

imo the Premier League have been biding their time to make sure they have a really fail safe, water tight case knowing full well that City could afford to go to any length at any cost to clear themselves. It will be interesting for sure and a limit of spending by the big guns in the event of them losing will filter down the leagues as spending will need to be curbed accordingly. How arab and US owners fiddling the system with shirt sponsorship, overseas payments etc will be stopped I don't know. Be nice to see money supply cut from the top as it will also affect foreign players coming here along with English wage structures too.
