In spite of my selections I wouldn't argue with that. I met him when he had retired and was doing a repping job. A real gentleman and in spite of his brilliant career exhibited great humility.

I'd never heard of him which probably says it all about his chances Abbey. A sport played almost solely in one nation can hardly count as ' around the world' can it?

Ali for sure then probably Bolt of the modern era closely followed by Phelps and not forgetting Michael Johnson who was Bolts inspiration i think.

Maybe a shout for Carl Lewis but i'm sure it was suspected he was the Lance Armstrong of athletics.
