Three up , two to play . Well done to the England ODI boys. The Ashes were the main event but this gives me a little consolation . Always good to beat the Aussies even if it’s at tiddlywinks

A white wash still on the cards Wilpshire

Jos Buttler 100 not out - come on Lancs !

Not understanding the subtleties of cricket it's baffling how we can be so poor at cricket and then so good at cricket.

Yep how come we can bat so well against the same bowlers when we only have 50 overs to do it. 50 overs is quite a lot of bowls.

Interesting grammatical point...... is it bowls or balls? I'd suggest the latter.

The 50 over game is played and completed on just one day, not four or five like the test matches.
The pitch has no significant deterioration and there isn’t the same concentration required to build a big score. How many times in the test matches did we see England start well and then throw away a good position the next day?

There are also fielding restrictions in the 50 over game. First ten overs, only two fielders allowed outside a 30-yard radius, then it becomes four and for the last 10 overs five. In test cricket you can put everyone on the boundary if you want to.

Bowlers are also restricted to only bowling a certain number of overs, so your lesser bowlers have to play a part and the captain must use his big guns wisely.
Finally, of course, quite a few of the players are different between the one day team and the test team. Jos Buttler, who scored 100 not out today, wasn’t even in the test squad.

And Drog, you are correct, it’s balls not bowls.

Is there a 30 yard line painted?

It's still 11 v 11 and you pick your own teams. I would have expected it easier to build a score with no time restriction but it seems otherwise.

That was some recovery after being 8 for 5 ! This England ODI team showed real character and fighting spirit to get to 196 all out . To lose by just 3 wickets after a start like that is a mini victory . Forget this and make it 4-1 in Perth

Great win by England in a tight finish to win the ODI series 4-1.
Superb bowling by Tom Curran, especially at the death to end with 5-35.
So, with the Aussies winning the test series 4-0, it’s now 5-4 overall :p

Superb death bowling by young Tom . Great series win and the cherry on the top ? Spoiling the Aussies grand opening of their new Optus Stadium in Perth . :joy:

England lose again in the T20 tri -series . Not a big fan of these international T20 competitions , but whilst watching it this morning before setting of for work , I saw Hales haul out to a catch at deep mid wicket . However slightly cheered up when in the same camera shot , I saw in the background, a St Georges flag with a Rovers badge in one corner and BLACKBURN in the middle .

Many miles from home but great to see a Kiwi Rover !
