Convincing win for England in the 2nd ODI . Ben Stokes starred with both bat & ball & was awarded man of the match . I still can’t fathom why he couldn’t play in the Ashes .

You’re right OOT.
What weird logic says “you can’t play for England as there’s an investigation and you might be charged”
Then says “you have been charged, no problem you’re in the team” ??

Embarrassed decision by people who only now realise the folly of their previous actions and have been looking for ways to repair their mistake.

Fabulous low scoring ODI , England winning a thriller by 4 runs to go 2-1 up . Tremendous 100 from Williamson . World class that lad .

Watching the 4th ODI , NZ v England at the University Oval , Dunedin . A beautiful & picturesque cricket ground . Weather glorious - makes me long for the English summer , following Rovers promotion of course .

181 not out from Ross Taylor - cracking knock.

Two centurions in the England innings too but a collapse in the middle order prevented us from scoring a massive total.

Still, makes the 5th and final match more interesting than having a dead rubber - perhaps that's why we let them win :p

I've just read that the drought went on for over a year but the heatwave itself was mid to late summer 76.

That article is wrong btw cos it reports a Minister for Drought in May 76 but in actuallity I rem Dennis Howell was only appointed in late August and within a few days it was teeming it down.......
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976_United_Kingdom_heat_wave
"In the last week of August, days after Denis Howell was appointed 'Minister for Drought', severe thunderstorms brought rain to some places for the first time in weeks. September and October 1976 were both very wet months, bringing to an end the great drought of 1975–1976."

Perhaps I was confused by the heat but I remember revising for late May/ June exams whilst the sun shone

Anyway women’s summer fashions from the ‘76 heatwave .

Who was that behind the camera for British Pathe news :joy: ?

Back on topic , a great summer for cricket too

I'm cynical enough to suspect that happens a lot. Dead rubbers aren't all that interesting to the public and awful for sponsors are'nt they.
