Me. Blatant handball in the area not given either. Cov went up that season. Fergy's dismissal might have been poetic justice for him getting David Wagstaffe sent of for retaliation after Fergy had literally scythed him down 3 times! Each tackle would have been a straight red now.[/QUOTE]
I miss the good old days ;)

When men were men and sheep were scared.

Dont forget I was a country boy :)

I was Blackburn End / Riverside Corner, right in line with the cross and as everyone jumped an arm in a red shirt was raised to punch the ball away. I can still see it vividly in my minds eye 50 years later but the Ref apparently couldn't even see it then! Our 1st season in the 2nd Div and I think we were favourites for promotion but Cov and Wolves got promoted with us finishing 4th. We never got close again until the play off seasons of the late 80's.

We had won 5 on the bounce before the Coventry game. Just 2 days later won 0-1 at Bolton but after that too many draws cost us. I went to the Bolton game and think Duggie scored?

We've been as close before the play-offs. You're forgetting that famous Saturday in May when Preston f****d it up for us in the early 80s under Kendall when we all went to Bristol.

That was a long drive home, a group of Bristol Rovers fans wandered onto the car park at the end of the game singing Rovers Rovers, with their scarves on, caused some confusion for a while, they did one one they realised most folk weren't to pleased. Strange pub we went in next to the ground as well, gutted when the nobbers result came through

I was 8 at the time, my dad took me on a pub coach for the first time. I remember on the way home, our more aggressive drinkers on the coach crossing the motorway to batlle with coaches going the other way with black and white scarves in them thinking they were Swansea fans. Shame they were Widnes fans going to watch the Challenge Cup final. :)

I remember being at the match and someone on the bench shouted to Kendall
"Howard, Swansea are Winning"
Kendall turned with a face like thunder and shouted back
"We're winnng too. What else can we f**king do?"
