Lennie Johnrose. R.I.P.

I've just read on the club website that Lennie has passed away. And, as some of us who remember him from his time at Ewood are entitled to say, "He was only 52."

If memory serves, he'd been fighting Motor Neurone Disease; an illness which, bad at the best of times, is particularly cruel to sports players.

The fact that his passing is on the club website surely means that there'll be some recognition of him before out next home game. Shame on the

One of my old Rovers tapes I've still got has a goal he scored for the reserves from about 40 yards before he became a first team regular. Very sad, a reminder to all that time is precious and life is short.

No; it might detract from the occasion.

Don't forget that, in addition to playing for Lancashire's Most Historic Football Club, Lenny played for a couple of other Football League teams in the northwest. Oh, and Hartlepool United.

I used to live in Heywood (just over the border from Bury); but since I moved back to Blackburn earlier this year, I've kind-of lost touch with where the local fans were up to with their plans to be able to play at Gigg Lane.
