My thoughts exactly. Fans desperate clamour for new signings is sometimes purely an admission that the club hasn’t enough quality within which is a weakness. For this reason I believe that b***ley will struggle this season.

I like this statistic from the article:
“Over the past ten seasons, the team who went on to become Premier League champions recruited an average 3.4 adult first-team players in the summer. The average for teams finishing bottom, by the way, was 9.5.”

I've supported that theory for long enough. We are miles from being a Liverpool but barring vultures circling around our players I believe not paying transfer fees but developing youth talent is the way fwd.
Crewe did this very successfully for many years, a better example perhaps at the other end of the scale was Man Utd's class of 92.

Of course the teams going on to win the trophies have a decent squad to start with.
We wouldn't be too badly off if we didn't persist in giving players away

I would add that successful teams have fewer injuries as well.
