Never had much time for the Motown song and dance outfits in the 60's and 70's and even less time for the 90's and oo's versions of boy/girl bands. Give me a band that can actually play musical instruments and make music off their own bat rather than soft shoe shuffling about in velvet suits.

The Funk Brothers were of course the musical geniuses behind bands like the Temps , The Supremes and the Four Tops - but I take your point .

However the sophisticated melodies and the amazing vocals come together to form some superb, albeit commercial soul classics .
