Rovers have appointed Gus Williams as the club’s new head of recruitment – replacing John Park who left the club at the end of last month.

Williams may be a good appointment but it seems to me that there has been a lot of coming and going with Academy staff this summer. Obviously the success of our Academy is attracting attention and the cheque books are coming out. I presume that we are paying under the going rate for Academy staff which is a shame as many of those departing must have formed good relations with clubs who we wish to loan players from? Surely Nyambe's wage could have been thrown into the pot to provide seasonal bonuses to help convince the outgoing staff to continue?

And Nyambes annual salary split between all the academy staff would be substantial would it?

Like life success comes at a price. If our academy is performing so well then there will always be bigger fish who will attract our staff. Not a problem that, we just need a continuing conveyor belt of younger staff ready to replace leavers who will have been trained in our methods. In fact that’s a bloody good selling point to attract aspiring and ambitious staff here! Think of the Anfield boot room for a sort of example.

which academy staff have we lost apart from Tony Carss who has left for a Villa under 21's manager there? So How were we going to keep him plus the lure of working with Steven Gerrard?

I know we have done well with the Academy products of late but surely for a club our size 2 GK coaches should be enough whilst a set piece coach must surely be a part time appointment? Crikey I'm sure that I could improve the Rovers set piece repertoire with just one hour long session per week for each squad.
