Is that based on 1989? Just commented on that elsewhere yesterday on some fans still holding a grudge against Palace. I guess that's based on the way their fans behaved that day though the result itself was more the referees fault. While I can imagine how badly people felt that evening it didn't really matter for long did it? Not like the 1960 final for instance which the club suffered after effects from for years though I don't think anyone really blamed Wolves. Of course I hold grudges against certain people and certain clubs so I'm not criticising. It just seems like its all based on one game which fortunately didn't really matter in the long run.
The '89 loss at Palace mattered to all Rovers fans and still hurts for many. We had no Crystal Ball.

In 1960 we had nothing to blame Wolves for. They were better than us all game. Whelan was unlucky, Dougan a twxt and the ticket fiasco down to Rovers.

OK but I've never detected any additional animosity centred on that during games against them or anything beyond occasional comments on a forum. Some people still held a grudge against Oxford for a defeat over 50 years ago and brought it up recently lol. I've been to Selhurst too so I'm not just talking at Ewood. You didn't appear to note my remark about the referee being mostly to blame (ironically enough he refereed the 1992 final) however unpleasant Palace fans may have been. I can't understand why it still hurts now because I don't think Palace fans still taunt Rovers over it.

I disliked the whole Palace play off experience but faulted Courtney and the Rovers team that day who blew it more than Palace or their fans. The Windy miss that day is stuck in memory replay like MGP at OT.

What a dump of a ground and area it was then.

No grudges from me to Oxford. That was a classic FA Cup giant killing display

Courtney got a barrage of pies at Bradford.
I still shudder at the mere mention of spennymoor

Nor me. In fact it was spooky cos I'd dreamt the night before that we'd lose 3-1! My only gripe is that Ron bloody Atkinson was at CH for them.

Odd quirk is that Courtney gave us a pen when Speedie went to ground a little too easily at Wembley. Gave us another too but Newell placed it and the keeper saved it when he should have blasted it right down the middle. That would have made the last 10 a little less stressful.

1. He might have toothache.
2. If he wasn't born here he might easily be the first one of his family to experience sub-zero conditions.

:)

Anyway they got beaten at West Ham so Conte will be warming em up as we speak! City of London Stadium is hardly artic circle is it?

So who is it?

Tell you what jack Wilshire looked the business the other night and he ran the game with poise and vision(apart from a bad miss) . If and a massive if , if he stays fit he will be a godsend in Russia next year.

Exactly what I've been saying on the international thread. I like the look of Loftus Cheek from the little bit of him that I have seen playing for England but of the rest Wilshire / Barkley / Shelvey are the only ones with the class to make an impression at international level. As ever with English talent they all appear to have a screw loose and a finger half on the self destruct button.

I was making Rooney the subject matter but tbh it's difficult to do that at the moment without linking to Allardyce isn't it? Sam prob drove him to the hospital now he's no licence.;)

Lukaku "Each time we miss the target in training we are told to do press-ups". No wonder he is built like a tank
