That is very sad. He was a good friend of my Brother who helped Jimmy get his NUJ card when he started summarising for the BBC. A real gentleman (not my Brother ) who knew his football.

They had a minutes silence for him before the Melbourne City v Sydney tonight. (Sydney won 4-0 btw good game to watch)

Cheers for posting the tribute Al . He was the first full back I remember when I started supporting the Rovers in 1966/67 . Still my favourite Rovers full back and he graced the famous blue & white halves .

Billy and Keith Newton made a top left and right full back combination . I hope the club do a fitting tribute to him a week on Sunday

Rest in peace Billy & thanks for the childhood memories .

I’m not a big fan of tributes to all and sundry, but disappointed that the Rovers didn’t organise a tribute to Billy Wilson on Sunday . From memory there was a minutes applause for Cyrille Regis so as an old Rover I thought the club could have done something in Billy’s honour . Blackpool at home on Saturday so a chance to remedy this .

Those of a certain age will remember Ernie Hunt's goal , ably abetted by Willie Carr . It was the first ever goal of the season and within a year the rule makers had banned that way of taking of free kicks. Kill joys !
