This Saturday sees the visit of PNE to Ewood Park for a ridiculous lunchtime kick-off that hasn't been moved for the TV moguls but by the club and the police, despite the fixture at Deepdale having been 3pm .
Preston can proudly stand alongside Bury and Accrington as one of the few teams within local range that has never played in the Premier League.
In fact, in a couple of years' time they will be able to celebrate it being 60 years since they last played in the top flight of English football
Anyway, back to the modern day and I admit to having some trepidation about this fixture.
Preston are unbeaten in the league since New Year's Day, which was a defeat away at Rotherham (we all know that feeling )
They have scored 7 goals more than Rovers and conceded 6 fewer and are 4 points above us.
Nobody who went to Deepdale in the autumn and stood in the sold-out away end will need reminding how quickly our enthusiasm and optimism were trampled down by an effervescent Preston team, who tore at us from the off and were 2-0 up inside ten minutes.
Never mind though, our defence has come on leaps and bounds since then
Will Paul Gallagher yet again produce some moments of mastery against us?
Will Alex Neill outwit ToMo?
Will our defence turn up?
Will anyone predict a Preston win?
I have no logic left to base my prediction on, so I'm going for a "law of averages" 2-1 victory to Rovers.
Surely it has to happen soon - hasn't it?
