The rarely mentioned cost of immigration, £28m for one Islamic terrorist carrying out one attack.

I wonder how much imported terrorism has cost this country in total over the last 15 years. The attacks themselves, surveillance of thousands of high risk individuals, massively increased security at all major events, erection of permanent physical barriers in major cities to reduce lorry attacks, the psychological deprogramming schemes for extremists which its said on the news recently don't actually work, increased prison places etc etc.

Billions? Factor it in to your next "benefit the economy" claim eh Jim.

Tens of millions goes nowhere these days. Surveillance cost will be massive and it's on a global scale. And the ones who should be doing most appear to be doing least.

B&wh, that's an aspect I hadn't considered.
It would get upto tens of millions at least.
Tens of millions (3 pretty much) is that one attack. As Drog says, surveillance alone will cost a fortune. Skilled police officers tracking thousands of individuals over 15 years. If there's 500 of them doing it that's about £500m straight away with their equipment and the cost for carrying out raids.

Knock that off the benefits that immigration brings and the politicians might not be able to fudge then figures as much as they have been doing.

Welcome to the real world you numpty! Imagine being so easily conned and then telling everyone about it! What is it that they say about a fool and his money being soon parted? I bet when he rented he resented every penny he paid in rent and that he called his landlord a robber etc! If he's so bright (and he so obviously isn't) why not shut t f up and go and buy some houses to rent out?

Not just new guttering I need a new roof. It's been up over forty years and the tiles are porous but I paid the mortgage off twenty years ago. How much would I have paid if I'd rented. I dread to think.

Nowt like Welsh Blue slate Al.
I took the cheap option of tiles when I built my house 25 years ago and I can see that day coming when I'll need to replace them. Back in the early 90's the builder said tiles were crap but would do 25-40 years Faced with all the other costs of building I chose them as 25 years seemed an awful long time. It isn't and I'm regretting tiling and not slating it.
Daft thing is I put welsh blue on my redundant barn and they are as good today as the day they were put on.

I'm having quality tiles put on. My roofer is a good guy who has done quite a bit of work on my close and they are all pleased with them. All the houses were built at the same time so naturally the roofs are all going at the same time. Forty odd years doesn't seem too bad. If I were younger I would go for Welsh Blue slate but at my age the tiles will probably outlast both my wife and me unless one of us lasts to well over a hundred.

It's an old saying but if they want to curb such criminality the punishment must be made to fit the crime.
Yeah but medieval punishments didn't stop crime then did they? These days DNA, cameras, etc can't stop it entirely so what will? I can understand "an eye for an eye" especially with something as heinous as these types of attacks. I don't believe such people can be rehabilitated.

In more "light entertainment" news what an egomaniac this girl is. Comparing herself to the Beatles and Liverpool and claiming she's going to put Blackburn on the map when far greater figures than her have already done that. Is she the one on bus shelters telling us to vote for her? I don't like being dictated on whom to vote for not that I'm planning on doing anyway.

I don't think this counts as comparing herself to the Beatles Vinjay “I’m proud of where I come from and it’s nice to put Blackburn on the map just like the Beatles did to Liverpool,”

any way she lives in Langho which is Ribble Valley not Blackburn

Never watched X Factor and never will. Is it like watching a Labour Party Political Broadcast?

I prefer a good book.

Crime is never stopped, it can only be reduced. And believe it or not, medieval citizens were as horrified by crime as we are, even through the city crime rate was lower in the era of medieval punishments than it is today. The higher medieval crime rate was a function of rural village life, most likely due to the reduced royal presence.

Plus the victim felt like the Crown had actually avenged the wrong done the victim, unlike what passes for justice nowadays.
