Great news for manufacturing and the North West in general , where, compared to any other region ,manufacturing employment is the highest as a proportion of total employment .

Largely the improvement is down to a more competitively valued pound and increasing global demand . Hopefully with an industrial strategy in place we can become a nation of producers rather than consumers. Interestingly manufacturing has its strongest order books for 3 decades, back to when Maggie was in power. We then had the Blair/Brown years when manufacturing was decimated.

I'm not sure how the miserable Remoaners will attempt to spin this one but I'm sure they'll find a way to inflict more of their misery on us .

Manufacturing on the increase? Child labour! Inequality of pay for men and women! Ponies and canaries mistreated down't pit, factory hooters and that daft Fair Trade movement blown to smithereeens! I can hear the gnashing of teeth and rending of garments by the champagne socialist luvvies as I type.

Halal meat ban on Lancs School meals menu is on hold.

I see the Lancashire Council of Mosques have successfully applied for a judicial review of the Council's decision in October to ban halal slaughtered meat from the schools menus. Yet another open declaration of a refusal to integrate with the indigenous population. The primitive fools don't help themselves do they?

Absolutely appalling , this is a step back to pre - civil rights in the US when mixed relationships sometimes led to lynchings . I’m amazed at the leniency of the sentences , but most of all fear for the young Asian girl’s safety . I dread to think what sort of punishment she’s had to suffer from the men in her family & community

Like OOT, I'm surprised at the leniency of the sentences. The extremely harsh sentences handed to some of the more minor participants in the London riots (years for encouraging it on Facebook or nicking a cheap handbag) showed the state's enthusiasm for dispensing with the rulebook when faced with a significant threat to society. Same for the Rovers and Burnley hooligans after the Cherry Tree fight, who mostly got 10-20 year sentences for a street brawl. If the violent enforcement of racial segregation by some Muslims isn't a significant threat to western society then what is.
