Anyone know how to get cheap train tickets ..may need London in 2 weeks time on open return ...cheapest I found is train line 350 quid each !!??!?! Robbing bastards ..can get frigging holiday for that....not even looked at hotels near st Bart's hospital yet...may just drive and go where we normally stop and buy a cheap wheelchair off eBay .

I would agree with that, along with gas, water and electricity


The cheapest way to get to London is the coach, takes longer obviously

British Steel being privatised didn't work out too badly for Rovers did it? That happened in 1988 and may well be what instigated talks with Walkersteel whichever side made the first move. Jack sold at the right time too as a steel recession followed in the early 90's. Indeed at the time of sale city analysts felt Jack got the better end of the deal. I've read it was Jack pushing the deal forward more than Fred so you can see where the true business talent was.

she wont be able to stay on that long....thinking of doing normal edge of London stay via car and buying a cheap wheelchair

It's probably the "open" part of the return that's jacking the cost up - is it not cheaper to buy two singles?

Just buy the first one to go down and don't buy the second until you know when you need it.

For example, two weeks today, a single from Preston to Euston is £83 each. Direct train, most times after 9am.

If you can be bothered going Blackburn to Manchester first, you can get a single from Piccadilly to Euston for £38.50 each after 10:30am

Why do you need to go all the way to London? I know its serious but heart issues aren't exactly rare. My guess is the site WB mentions is probably National Rail.

Why ? Because it's the only place that deals with my wife ..she has really rare problems from birth .

Booked edgware now ..go in car and tube it it in and getting wheelchair for when she's breathless...thanks for help everyone .

A friend of mine went to Blackpool hospital and was sent to London because of complications. If it's any consolation Abs he had nothing but praise for them. He had a triple bypass and told me they were absolutely brilliant. He is also a dialysis patient at the same clinic as me and was back within a week. He was a bit sore but he's fine now and it's only a couple of months ago. I know it's not much but I hope it helps a bit and I wish your wife all the luck in the world for a quick recovery.

She's been under London for 53 years due to the complexity of it...they are amazing .We normally go once a year for her "MOT" .
