What Music do you listen to?

This is one guy that I am devastated to hear has passed away. I know country is not a popular choice on here but if I had to choose a favourite ever singer it would be Don Williams. He had an easy relaxed style that relaxed everybody who listened to him. Thankfully I have loads of his music on my iPhone because it will now suddenly become expensive as the music publishers cash in.
RIP Don. You gave me hours of enjoyable listening.

78 isn't that old these days but I know what you are saying about the music industry.

Went to the MEN Arena last night for the first time since it re-opened.
Gone are the days of walking up to the door, having your ticket scanned and walking in.

Tickets checked outside the arena then routed into an area of the multi-storey car park where there was a line of around 20 walk-through metal detectors with lots of security staff.
From there routed back into the concourse and carried on as normal.
To be fair, it was well organised and a very quick process with no big queues.

It will be interesting to see if this now becomes the norm at all large concert venues.

Any large venues I'd suggest. Surely can't be long before the bigger sports stadia are included .... and then the medium sized ones .... and then the small ones.....

Correct Abbey. Just like airport security. Who would have dreamt back in the day of the crap that we have to go through now just to sit in the sun for a few days? Decades of pussy footing around an aggressive, intolerant and expansionist religion for fear of causing offence have got us nowhere except of course for leaving our lives and our nation in a far worse position than if we had taken a hard line from the start.
N.B. 'Hard line' does definitely not mean being racist or bigoted (as many intellectual derelicts would have it)!

Good that.
No idea how they pack out stadiums for US sporting events though. They are all either tedious or ridiculous. Maybe ice hockey is OK but men's netball and rounders is stultifyingly dull whilst that bloody wrestling is just comical... but without any humour! In the pub the other evening and some baseball match was being shown. Full house it seemed too! Why???

Couple of my mates have gone. I guess the King of Keyboards light is burning less brightly these days. Imo it's good that a lot of the 60's and 70's top billing bands now find themselves playing lesser venues in provincial towns.

Had a great evening. Lots of top notch piano pieces interspersed with funny anecdotes from Rick's past.

He was very impressed with KGH, calling it a marvellous venue and one that people should continue to support.
One of his farewell lines was "and I hope the Rovers go up. You shouldn't be down there.."

Always knew he was a good 'un :D

One of my friends bumped into Rick years back after he had done a gig on Union road Ossy, Rick came out of the side door of the venue and asked where the nearest Chinese was

Discussing this before the evening with my mate who was going and I suggested that he'd have quite a bit to offer with the mike between numbers. He's quite an interesting chap to listen to.

Good point :)

He went in the takeaway almost opposite the Town Hall (now Civic Centre), cant remember the name now but it had a good reputation at the time. I think it's now some milk shake bar.

That part of Union road had a great pub crawl circuit
