Haven't seen this lad Caddis so it's prob foolish to comment but this lad sounds like he might not be the best defender but his strength is in attacking as an overlapping right full back (poss right winger, where did he play BB?)
Mowbrays type of full back I'd suggest. These guys are fine and can be dangerous as we have seen with Price, Hird, Bailey and Le Saux, but they do need a winger who will drop and cover when they go forward. Not sure Feeney is that man unless Mowbray can get inside his head.
Reading between the lines there may be possible doubts over his fitness and commitment as both Rowett and Zola chose to overlook him. Rowett basically reported as telling him to get fit... or else. Seems to have been popular with the fans but could be a John Bailey type perhaps?
EDIT I've just read this..

Seems my spidey senses aren't failing re: his level of fitness.
Best bit is that Mowbray appears to be 'on it' regarding squad fitness levels. "8 am Fat burning club" before the other players come in for training! Bloody good news and good psychology! Sacrifice accompanied I'd assume by a little ribbing and humiliation from their teammates for the tubby ones! I've commented plenty about this as I only had a few players down last season as actually being truly 'fit for purpose', (namely Lenihan, Lowe, Bennett and Gallagher)! Coyle was the reason imo and it appears Mowbray shares my opinion and won't stand for it. Should make a massive difference to the likes of Conway, Graham and even Evans. Only diff with me is that I'd have had the 'Fat Club' after training and not before. I guess it matters little. Well done TM.
