Only good until he has a contract in his hand.
Best reminds me of a poor mans Stan Collymore a little. Liverpool signed him from Forest for 11m. For those that remember him Collymore had everything, close control, power, balance, two good feet, good on the ground and in the air. A formidable centre forward..... or at least he should have been. He rarely performed to expectations and frequently disappointed. I was told by someone on the youth coaching staff at Anfield that the 1st team management couldn't understand why he didn't perform as expected. Took em almost 12 months to come to the conclusion that Collymore's dream was to be a rock star and that playing football didn't really float his boat! Compare that to the likes of Shearer, didn't have Collymore's all round ability but did have in spades a burning desire to be the best. Nowt can be done for players with Collymore's mentality I'm afraid.
