Wow what has Mancini done with Italy? I know it was only one game but no cynical fouling, time wasting, rolling around feigning injury or scoring a goal and then shoving ten men behind the ball negatively ala b***ley. They took Turkey to pieces last night with a new brand of high speed passing football with a high press and always presented options for the man on the ball. Apparently they have won their last nine games without conceding a single goal and overall are 29 games unbeaten.
I can’t wait for their next game!

That is impressive ODB . I watched the T20 cricket , Worcs v Northants on the other side , but I’ll keep an eye out for Italy’s next game . Always had a soft spot for them . Sounds like Mancini has completely changed Italy’s footballing culture !

We'd have a bloody good chance with any three of Kane, Grealish, Sterling and Foden with some great midfielders backing them up, but and it's a big BUT .... we can'tb defend! In the last World Cup we scored plenty of early goals and then adopted a 'they shalll not pass' mentality instead of going for the jugular. Worked against the poor teams but the luck (and Southgate's tactical nous) ran out against Croatia. In the second half they mullered us down the right and Modric ran the midfield whilst Southgate did nothing to stop it other than cross his fingers, A man marker on Modric and the right back and we'd have been in the final.

It was a blessing we didn’t beat Croatia in Russia. France would have pasted us, not a pleasant thought.

You can never say that ODB. Most thought Chelsea would lift the FA Cup and that City would then muller Chelsea a fortnight ago and that didn't happen.

I have him down as resigning on principle as the booing of BLM will leave him little option....... but is there something you know that we don't ODB? He's not taking the Chilean job is he?

Wonderful words and who can disagree with Southgate and his team of equality activists. Great stuff . However on that basis they certainly shouldn’t be participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar , a country where gross inequality isn’t just a concern , it’s baked into to everyday life .

Gareth and the ‘ lads ‘ need to read this and make a stand ( after they’ve won the Euros of course )

It’s a two way street . FIFA , UEFA and the footballing family can’t preach and pontificate to us about racial inequality with any credibility if , at the same time , they condone sexual inequality by holding the 2022 World Cup in a country where women are treated like chattels .

Sterling was the match winner so who can argue with that? I must say they are both fine players who will frighten opposing defenders to death but given that Croatia mullered us down our left side in the Moscow semi final I think Southgate must have seen better defensive qualities in a Trippier / Sterling combination. I did see Sterling tracking back on plenty of occasions which I don't believe is Grealish's forte. I think we will prob see Grealish start against the sweaties.
To give Southgate some credit his tactics and selection did keep Moscow's MoM Luka Modric fairly quiet and they did stop the threat down our left. Good games by Phillips and Mings, but a shaky start by Kyle Walker who couldn't pass wind in the first half but recovered to play a wonderful pass to Phillips who supplied Sterling for our goal. Biggest disappointment was Harry Kane who had about the worst match that I've ever seen him play.

I know I'm on my own in this but I don't rate Harry Kane that highly. He's a decent player but can't hold a candle to pre injury Shearer.

The stats reveal he's up there Al.

btw I wonder if Kane's performance is some Machiavellian scheme dreamt up by his agent to get his price down and make leaving Spurs much easier?..... and more profitable! Rem Shearer had a blinding Euro 96 and that's the last we saw of him. Maybe there are business politics working behind the scenes behind Grealish's absence too. Money rules the sport these days. Maybe Southgate is on a brown envelope too?

Am I getting paranoid to see money making schemes, football politics and conspiracies in everything? Do I need to see a shrink? .... Or am I right?
