3 bigger clubs than Rovers coming up there, Ipswich and Sheff Wed averaged 26,000 last season and Plymouth 16,000. Compared to our 13,000 when we went up.

Everton aren't a big club? They sell out their 40,000 ground every week, the Liverpool City Region has a population of 1.6 million, they haven't been relegated in about 70 years, and they attracted one of the most successful managers ever in Ancelotti.

They're an underperforming big club, but that doesn't take away from them being a big club. Them, Aston Villa, West Ham, Leeds and Newcastle are the second level of clubs below the big 6 for me (although I guess you could say Newcastle are making it a big 7 now).

I know it's an abstract comment but of the 'Big 6' I see Chelsea as belonging more in the group you mentioned. They are only up there because Spurs rejected Abromovic's advances.

I guess its open to interpretation how you define a big club.

For me its based on how likely they are to have future success in the long-term, which is driven by sustainable revenue streams, i.e:
1. Match day income - determined by your local fanbase size
2. Merchandise and sponsorship - determined by your global fanbase size

So I don't see a rich owner as sustainable revenue in the long-term, however depending on the level of success a rich owner gives you in the short/medium-term, that could significantly increase your global fanbase size (and to a lesser extent also your local fanbase) and therefore make you a bigger club.

I think that's whats happened with Chelsea (who have had their global and local fanbases swelled) and to a lesser extent City (improvement in their global fanbase, but Man Utd had already saturated the market in terms of north-west gloryhunters).
