A good watch BB but I'd have to say there are question marks against Downing for both their goals.
I take your point about their second Blackpool goal but the scorer was completely unmarked for the first goal and if he should have been marked by anybody it would be Nyambe in that area.

I think if you look again you'll see that another 'pool player took Nyambe out. However Al tell me why Nyambe is expected to mark 2 players whilst Downing marks 0?

You could have picked on any defender. Why Downing? I can't play those highlights again so I assume he had his own man to mark.

The 2 men at the back Downing and Nyambe appeared to be marking 3 whilst Graham and Mulgrew were marking just one in the middle. Whatever Downing was at the back and didn't react at all as one would expect with everything happened in front of him and the scorer ended up with a totally free header.

Well I've not eaten my hat regarding Mowbray yet but I'm putting the salt on and couldn't be more pleased.

It says a lot about our start that we needed this great run just to get us within 3 points of the promotion places, but its come just in time and big well done to the manager and players.

What's equally pleasing is we're now 8 points above 7th with a game in hand. Our very rare forays into the top 6 under Bowyer felt as stable as hanging on to a soaking wet monkey bar with cramp in both arms. So this stability feels strange and very welcome.

I like Blue Eyed Boy's description.
"It almost seemed like one of those goals you give the oppo because you’ve been given a freak one by the officials when Blackpool equalised with an unchallenged header:”There you go, chaps, sorry about the misunderstanding, let’s start again with a centre.”"

I can understand Bowyer complaining about 'the slings and arrows of outrageous fortunes' cos many times it seems that the fates stack up against you but whether Leutwiler played for Canada or not is irrelevant. The point is that his selection to the Canadian squad meant that he wasn't available for our squad.

btw anybody old enough to remember the strange sight of Simon Garner going into the nets after Vince O'Keefe (I think) broke his leg and had to go off? He looked like a schoolboy GK playing in full size goals.

I agree with Bowyer actually though why moan about it publicly? Its not Rovers fault the league allow fixtures to be postponed even when its only sub keepers or useless outfielders like Evans. I like Mulgrew of course but its excessive to postpone games over him. I've already stated my feelings that a club of this stature shouldn't be postponing fixtures like Fleetwood. Its Blackburn Rovers and there's an image to maintain. I know you won't agree with me but a sense of prestige is priceless as far as I'm concerned. Most of you who were around then probably complained when Middlesbrough postponed that fixture (granted without league permission) but in my opinion they had a far more legitimate claim. People say it relegated them but butterfly effect and all that.

I was arguing elsewhere yesterday about Downing and how Lenihan should replace him no matter what when he returns. Its ironic people say its right to postpone games against Fleetwood but prefer to keep a loanee in the team ahead of an asset like Lenihan.

The old adage.... 'Don't change a winning team.' Not that difficult to follow is it Vinjay? Especially now that clubs are allowed multiple subs.

However in Bowyer's defence we did leave Lieutwiler and Evans on the bench at Kick off last Tuesday.

So to use an extreme example how did you feel when Graham replaced Lukic with Seaman in 1990? Arsenal fans were fuming at the time (and Lukic had won the league himself in 1989) but they won the league in 1991.

There are always exceptions to the rule. These days lots of them too. Remember Kean's :poop: strange managerial foibles? It seemed that every time some one was MoM or scored a couple in one match he dropped em for the next game...... It was almost as if he wanted to lose. Oh wait??!!??:eek::mad:
