Right. Thinking caps on folks.

Anybody know why we have to wait another 6 weeks to put the clocks forward when imo we should be doing it now?
Longest and shortest days and the equinoxes split the year into perfect quarters so why do we put the clocks back on the last Sunday of October and approx 54 days before the shortest day on Dec 21st but have to wait until the last Sunday in March an approx total of 97 days after the shortest day to put them forward? If all things were equal we should be putting them forward to British Summer Time about now, middle of February or 54 days after the shortest day.
Imagine it not going dark until 6.45 tonight? How good would that be? I'm sure an hour or two of daylight after work would make for a healthier and happier nation.

btw I've asked this question for about the past 20 or so years and no one can give me a valid answer. Oh and it's nowt to do with farmers either.

I knew someone who didn't put their clocks back! A farmer too. Didn't seem to bother them and I can vouch that the cows weren't bothered in the slightest.

Just to add, I wrote to the PM a number of years back when Labour was in charge and my letter was passed onto the Sec of State for the Environment who at that time was a female scottish MP. No surprise that I got a load of waffle back from someone who patently couldn't grasp the issue and could give no proper reason despite an exchange of letters. Must say I might try Gove, he'll have more about him for sure, and he is a brexiteer to boot.

I think I've agreed with you on this before Gord. I would put the time on by two hours in February and leave it there permanently.
