2023. 2024. Aren't we all supposed to be riding hoverboards by now?

I didn't realise that 'Boro are rock-bottom - at least after today's defeat. Meanwhile, Preston North End are top! You might have thought it would have been the other way around. Hopefully it's a season of playing clubs at the right time, and we can do PNE over twice. Surely they can't keep that going for the entire season with a squad like that.

I also think Ipswich Town will tail-off at some point. And perhaps even Plymouth (even if they are in the bottom-half) who I thought were very lucky to get anything from our game at their place, let alone beat us by three goals due to silly mistakes from us.

I reckon Russell Martin could be the first managerial casualty of the season. I watched their opening game at Sheffield Wednesday and, although they won by one goal, they were a typical possession team with no cutting edge. They are obviously being found out, and I think confidence in Martin will nosedive very quickly.

All in all, a very interesting Championship season, and one that I think we probably feel disappointed to be sitting 8th in already. Come on, Rovers. Let's do it under the radar and remember that it's a marathon and not a sprint!

Click the title....

Is it about time we had VAR in the Championship? That goon of a linesman could have cost us 3 points yesterday. I can only assume that at the time the ball was played he was looking away.

Would be nice if Millwall could equalise to keep us in 8th. Like last season, our goal difference is quite poor.

Edit: Just realised we'd only drop a place if Millwall won.

I thought the Lino did well yesterday considering he didn't have his fecking labrador running the line with him!

If you had to pin me down I'd say the Championship is very slightly stronger than last year but I still hold out hope we could make the top 6 if one of our Forward signing's gets fit/makes the step up.

North End still winning... 2-1 v Brum. Bubble showing no signs of bursting yet. Meanwhile Darragh Lenihan scored for Boro to rescue a point at Sheff Wed. Russell Martin must be edging closer to the exit door at Southampton after they lose at home again, this time to our opponents on Saturday, Ipswich Town. Who would have thought that the top two teams would be PNE and Ipswich?

Seems like we played Plymouth at the wrong time.
I said after the game that Plymouth weren't good, I rather think that we went out with the wrong attitude.

Russell Martin isn't going to last long, is he? I watched his pre-match press conference against Ipswich (?), and his arrogance that everything will work out was astounding. What a high opinion of himself he has.

I don’t think the page loaded correctly when I looked. Southampton then?

Its a stupid article anyway, different refs produce the cards at different rates.

Martin's football isn't dissimilar to the style we played under Mowbray a few years ago, whereby we would rack-up 60%+ possession after pointlessly passing it to death, only to be sucker-punched at every opportunity. This was the season where we often dominated possession and finished 15th or so.

Rather like matches to date this season!

There have been constant soundbites of "entertaining football" from managers past and present for it not to be a requirement of the owners. Or, at the very least, the people they entrust have a naive view of the game.

There is nothing wrong with doing it that way if you have the playing staff to execute it, but realistically, we never have. I think Tomasson is the best so far at trying to carry it out, but it is an inevitable frustration, as well as a fantasy, to try to do it and expect success. More pragmatism needed in my opinion. It almost feels like it isn't allowed at Rovers.

the biter bit! After being second best at Ewood yet managing a victory sland just experienced the other side of the coin as second best cardiff scored in the 87th minute to complete their own smash and grab at the stadium of light! I love the championship.
