Does anyone else on here go clay pigeon shooting?

If so does anyone fancy shooting on a Wednesday early afternoons at either: Kelbrook, Crabtree, Coniston Cold or Blackpool?

Good fun at that Coniston Cold, however I think I'd soon get bored of it
Once went on a Sun am shoot at Rishton at the owner's insistence. Shot 50 cartridges with a borrowed gun and my cheek was black and blue till the following Thursday.

You need landowners permission and that only normally takes place where they are growing cereal crops. Game shooting is good fun though.

You were holding it wrong Gordon. The position of the butt, hands and cheek are so important !!

I know. I shoot like I do with a rifle looking down the barrel with one eye closed but tbh it was a borrowed gun too. Chap that invited me can shoot from the hip almost as well as he can from the shoulder.

Obviously they have clay wings!

They are clay discs that are fired from a machine called a thrower.

Ohhhb ok ...so machine lobs pretend pigeon then u shoot it down...id prefair if real pigeon..be more fun ! A clay disk doesn't even sound like a pigeon..they should change the name of this sport/game whatever it is

You have different sizes and they go in different directions at different speeds. A tricky sport. You ought to try it sometime.

It's like practising for the real thing isn't it? For example footballers train frequently to improve their performance and so too with shooters.
