Unfortunately, Captain Sir Tom died today, it appears from a combination of pneumonia and Covid.
One thing's for sure, he had a completely unexpected, exciting and eventful final year.

I think it was your flippancy towards his death which rankled a little with ODB. It did with me too. OK so at 100 he's had a great innings but his actions and personality did win over the affections and admiration of the entire nation.

I’m not sure what’s happened to this country recently . There seems to be a contagion of public virtue signalling for Uncle Tom Cobley and all .

Captain Sir Tom was a proud Englishmen, one of the best of us and in my opinion the reserved dignified one minutes silence on our behalf , by our elected representatives in the House of Commons , was an appropriate tribute . No need to then clap or bang pots and pans on the doorstep .

It drives me bonkers when I’m at Ewood and we’re expected to clap for some recently deceased ex footballer , who has absolutely no connection with the Rovers or the town of Blackburn .
