Out of interst and based on current form/performance level
who would you be looking at signing up for longer/better deals?

I think we have been very unlucky recently
Neither Armstrong nor BBD deserved better offers but then hit purple patches
The one really good bit of business - signing Dack up - blew up with his injuries.

Of the list Vale (who will come good with a bit of confidence) and of course Phillips jump out to me as needing urgent attention

Great work that ODB, love this kind of stuff!

Pretty much agree with you Steve on who to offer new contracts, although this doesn't look good for the Phillips one. Poor do that, we bring him through as a youngster and he won't even sign one professional contract with us 😡
Ash Phillips yet to sign professional Blackburn Rovers contract | Lancashire Telegraph

On the flip side, not sure about 4 year contracts for these lads, bit of an albatross if they're on anything decent:
Dilan Markanday, Ryan Hedges, Sam Szmodics.

Im ok with Hedges - the others - the jury is very much still out but something tells me the other two are mistakes

I reckon Markanday will come good given a chance, spuds certainly didn’t want him to leave.

Here are all of the contracts that are due to expire at the end of next month.
  • Alex Baker
  • Sam Barnes (twelve month option available)
  • Lewis Bell
  • Dominik Biniek (twelve month option available)
  • Adam Caddick (twelve month option available)
  • Lenni Cirino
  • Rhys Doherty (twelve month option available)
  • Tyrhys Dolan (twelve month option available)
  • John Fleck
  • Ben Fyles (twelve month option available)
  • Sam Gallagher (twelve month option available)
  • Jay Haddow (twelve month option available)
  • Jared Harlock
  • Solomon Honor
  • Adam Khan
  • Matthew Litherland
  • Kyle McFadzean
  • Paul Murphy-Worrell
  • Junior Nsangou
  • Charlie Olson (twelve month option available)
  • Brandon Powell
  • George Pratt
  • Jalil Saadi (twelve month option available)
  • Zack Stritch
  • Bradley Taylor
  • Ben Thirkill
  • Ethan Walker
  • Charlie Weston
  • Isaac Whitehall
  • Harrison Wood
Some of those will be scholarships so are probably irrelevant, but I dropped the ball on keeping track. Some of them you'll have never heard of. I will keep an eye out on events.

Incidentally, Cirino and Khan were today called up to the Montserrat and Pakistan squads, respectively. While I'm here, I had a small chuckle when I read that Lee Bowyer is the manager of Montserrat. How random.

Nsangou is a Polish youth international. Will we renew? 🤔 Biniek is also in that bracket, but we have a twelve month option should we not want to commit.

Ethan Walker is another interesting one. He was signed when Mogga was still here, I think. He came with a lot of promise, and perhaps another Dolan type loss for Preston, but I think an early injury put paid to any impact he could have had. Still, should have had more than enough time to progress, you would have thought.

Ultimately, I really want us to agree a new contract with Dolan. Easy to forget that he is still only 22. I feel like he's starting to mature and become a better all-rounder than he's been in the last couple of seasons, and we'll lose him to a Championship rival if we're not careful.

I strongly Agree about Dolan

Tyrhys Dolan and Sam Gallagher have been offered new contracts (perhaps that's not news). Dolan's is apparently lower than what his camp had hoped. Similar for Gallagher, although he would very rightly be getting offered lower terms than his current contract.

It's likely that both players' contract options will be triggered by Rovers, with more negotiations to come.

How far is Dolan's out? Savings on Gallagher's could be used to up Dolan's but with a performance basis added.

I'm not sure. I suspect it's a tidbit that Jackson got from Waggott.

Gallagher is supposedly on ~£13k per week. Quite staggering, but that's what happens when you buy Premier League dropouts, even after renewing their contract at a likely reduced rate thereafter.

Rovers should continue to look abroad and in the lower leagues. Paying Premier League wages, even if they are peanuts by their standards, is a silly thing for most Championship clubs to do.

It's a shame but lots of little birds drop out of the nest. He'll earn money playing football somewhere no doubt. Good luck to him.

Only seen Cirino once, against LUFC in a friendly, he was about 17 and he played brilliantly against the brazilian Raphina who was soon to be sold to Barca for 55m. I was looking fwd to him coming through the ranks but it'll never happen now will it? He got a long injury I seem to recall but I wonder what went wrong there?

John Fleck? That bugger should play for nothing for a season to repay what he owes us. I think he is/was the top earner.

I would imagine any offer made now will be vastly reduced. He will no doubt be hoping for a better offer from elsewhere.

Posted by Rovers a few minutes back:

Rovers have reached decisions on players whose registrations with the club are due to expire on June 30th 2024, in accordance with EFL regulations.

The club can confirm it has activated the one-year options in the contracts of Sam Gallagher and Tyrhys Dolan, meaning the attacking duo will remain contracted to the club for a further 12 months.

Since initially joining on loan for the 2016-17 season, Gallagher has scored 49 goals in 235 appearances for Rovers across two spells, whilst Dolan has netted 19 goals in 164 appearances since joining on a free transfer from Preston North End in the summer of 2020.

Under-21s players Dominik Biniek, Adam Caddick, Charlie Olson, George Pratt and Harrison Wood have also been informed that the club has taken up the option to extend their registrations by a further year.

Rovers are in ongoing discussions with the representatives of Kyle McFadzean and John Fleck, who both joined the club during the January transfer window on short-term deals from Coventry City and Sheffield United respectively, however both players are entitled to explore other options.

The guy is finished, it was a stupid signing at the time. A lad with a. solid plate in his leg who hadn't played for nigh on two years.
