Solution,
Reverse the fixtures. (I'm assuming we haven't played them yet)
Rovers will need to order the pies, beer etc and get staff in for the evening. Also some of us already have tickets for Coventry away.

I can see it being postponed or moved to Northampton. Whatever happens the EFL will come out with some pathetic limp statement saying it is ā€˜unfortunateā€™; the fans will be the last people they will care about. It canā€™t be moved to Birmingham next week as they are at home on Wednesday.

Take your point about the tickets, but there's nothing stopping taking the Coventry's tickets and getting reimbursed by Coventry.
Obviously there'll be a minor inconvenience, but there'll be bigger inconvenience if the game doesn't go ahead.
Shit, If the Rovers can't beer and pies at short notice, then we've got a problem at Ewood

Rumour is it will be played at the Bescott, Walsalls ground.

TBF Nov have been shafted by ACL and Coventry City Council for years regarding the Ricoh.

I don't think villa are playing next week.

surely though if the stadiums owners go into administration the owners of Coventry could buy it for a song. It's a well supported club and should be viable.

We gripe about our owners but it could be a whole lot worse couldn't it?

The issue is they were happy to be a Tennant and I suspect have been waiting for this to happen for years now, Wasps have gone. The stadium hasn't been looked after and there are issues with its condition. It would cost Coventry allot of money in repairs to put right plus the operational costs of ACL would far outweigh what they were paying (600k) a year) In rent.

Suspect the NEC Birmingham owners will get it with its exhibition and hotel halls attached to it.

Then surely a deal could be done with them. However that's maybe a glib comment because I have no in depth knowledge of the situation.

The stadium should never have been built, especially under such a stupid ownership structure all because everyone wanted a bit of the money. It was constantly downgraded from the original concept and by the time Laing O'Rourke got on site it was effectively a stadium bowl added onto a exhibition centre, nothing like the concepts or even the new Wembley plans which Coventry was looked at national stadium wise for. The old Foleshill gas works site was being rejuvenated 20 years ago ish? The council which made a pigs ear of it, first got in bed with Tescos who pinched a load of the land for peanuts, ACL was ran/set up by the Alan Higgs charity I think and they all had a split CCC, ACL and Coventry FC, when the football team fell out the premier league they sold there share to pay off debts. the Taylor Wimpey Highfield road sale monies had long gone before hand and effectively the council and ACL then owned/ran the stadium. ACL ran it and charged 1m pa to play there without any share of the profits/catering sales. Coventry FC thought this excessively unfair and was to be negotiated when the troubles started and they played at Northampton etc. It was quite a strong position to negotiate from when WASPS from London came up the M40 and decided to buy the stadium through a bond process (issued 1000s of bonds/coupons to fans), they bought the councils 50% and were given a 250 year lease.

If Coventry canā€™t stage the fixture we should get the three points and they should be kicked out the league. Enough is enough.

Tbf they don't own the ground, just a tennant. They had a 10 year lease by ACL given to them last season. ACL the operators of the stadium are now owned by Wasps bond holders, ACL cannot continue to trade whilst insolvent, it's illegal hence they will appoint an administrator on Monday.

Worth noting Coventry had to actually pay the wage bill of ACL staff this week just to get the game on this week. ACL will have had its insurance company and creditors withdrawing this week which would make it nigh on impossible to host and the police will be wanting paid upfront etc.

ACL need to be investigated given Birmingham via the commonwealth gave them so much money to host the mini rugby games. In addition Coventry had to relay the pitch themselves as if you recall they couldn't play home games at the start of the season.

Dodgy buggers. Might be a good home for Sale Sharks!
You seem very well informed. How do you know so much on the subject Dunn?

I have a Coventry friend at work, years ago I remember looking at this on behalf of a fans forum type meeting for him.

Shafted by the council, lets hope the Coventry council can get the 250 year head lease back and the admin for ACL can strike a deal. I strongly Suspect SISU will want this dragging out however, the more distressed the cheaper the sale etc.

No matter who owns it, if it's not used on tuesday, then that's lost income.
If no one plays there, no income.

True but if ACL the operating company can't pay it's own bills, Can't pay beer suppliers etc, can't pay staff wages, can't pay for policing, insurance etc then it is not safe nor feasible to host the game whilst technically at the moment they are insolvent so have no choice but too call in the administrators.

It cost over 50k to get the game on the today whilst all suppliers insisted on being paid upfront eg. brewery.

I do feel sorry for the fans, however, I also felt sorry for Bury fans. Coventry as a football club have been given plenty of slack over the years, enough is enough.

TBF both JDT and. Coventrys Mark Robins seemed annoyed in there after match speeches.

Mark Robins really stuck the boot in here;
Aye; it makes you realise how - comparatively - fortunate we are. For all we may grumble about our owners, there are clubs - and fans - who are actually worse off than we are.
