Has that been the case for centuries or is it because people are that sensitive about "year zero?" I can see the argument given the whole pregnancy process. While I do consider babies as separate beings upon conception there's still the argument for matters like abortion for a reason. Also you can't really compare receiving nutrients, etc inside the womb to bottle feeding. Big difference between being an "independent" being in the womb and being "independent" after birth. Of course the baby is entirely dependent on others at both stages.
