Is it true that Henry Graystone SM, aka "Black Harry" died on 17/12/2019?

For those that didn't attend SMC, Black Harry was the HM in the 60's (in my time).
I remember him as an imposing, yet gentle figure, who could remember all of the pupils names (surnames at least).
Be interested from those who remember him.

Having sex with a teacher wouldn't have been anything like this at SMC in your day would it chaps?😖 Jammy little sod is my opinion. I bet she taught him a thing or two that he'll never forget!
Tbh I'm struggling with only four years between them to find anything wrong with this.

No women teachers I would have fancied when I was at SMC and as far as priests are concerned Vicars are just as bad, probably worse!

Doubtful,,, Vicars can marry therefore it's not restricted to homosexuals like the Priesthood.

I can only speak from experience. The last two Vicars from a place not far away, (I'll not mention which,) have been fired for doing things against minors including having a collection of obscene photographs.

v dreadful mass scale paedophilia across the entire roman catholic world.

Anyway I'm not about to defend any religion, there isn't one fit to mend another and mankind would be better without any. Why do people feel the need to place so much store and dedicate their lives to a fantasy world of make believe?

Then why do protestants constantly feel the need to snipe at Catholics when we all know that the whole religion thing is hogwash. Try sniping at Islam instead.

It’s jealousy Al . They know they were always in our sporting shadow . SMC in Blackburn , PCC in Preston and Thornleigh College in Bolton to name but a few fantastic Catholic grammar schools .

Our football masters at Preston Catholic College always reminded us that when opposition teams saw us running out onto the pitch in our green and white shirts , we were already 1-0 up and that was before we kicked off !

I remember Darwen Grammar being easy meat , home and away 😉

Easy meat? You need to remember that half our year were girls.

Anyway OOT did you have the usual SMC lax attitude to actual age?
I rem playing my first game as a first former in the U13's against SMC, I was on the left wing and the right back was about six inches bigger than me with hairy legs and sideburns! By the upper sixth that lot had nowhere to go and that bugger would have left years before and was no doubt married with young kids! Guess what? We won at their place 0-1 and drew at home 1-1. :D

As for PCC when we played there in the First X1 we were refereed by one of their bloody sixth formers whilst the sports master refereed the U13's match ffs! And guess what the ref was as bent as a hairpin! Quelle surprise! They were given the first goal that should have been disallowed for blatant handball after about 70 mins and we went on to lose the match 0-2 after having 3 sent off!!!! btw I was the first to go for an early shower.

I must admit I'd been having a real midfield tussle with a lad called Joe (Joseph I guess:rolleyes:), decent player he was. I tackled him in our area and whilst we were both on the ground it was him who handled the ball by scooping it under him as he got up .so that he could touch it to another lad on the pen spot and it was 1-0. Said Ref of course gave the goal.
In fairness I started the rot 5 minutes later by taking a wild kick at 'Joe' and sending him about 3ft up in the air. It was a sending off without a doubt and I was wrong to do ..... but by God didn't it feel good?:imp: Anyway there I was sitting glumly in the dressing room when studs outside signalled the entry of our CF Ronnie who had lost his temper too! We were moaning about the bloody Ref when more studs sounded outside and in came Art our CH, Capt and Head Boy! Head teacher gave us a dressing down in Monday Assembly in front of the whole school and announced a three week ban for 'disgracing' DGS.
I was distraught about missing until our PE teacher who had witnessed the Ref's performance told us that it was to run over the coming Christmas Hols! Result! We never missed an actual match!:laughing:

Now can anyone tell me how I can rem all that detail after 50 years as it it was last week when I can't even rem what I had for lunch yesterday?

My first name is Joseph (Joseph Alan) but I left a good 10 years before then and I never used my Christian name. In fact it's been the bane of my life in form filling and hospitals etc.

I was wondering whether that was the year my brother was in the 2nd Year 6th . He played for our first XI , which went unbeaten all season . The football master who looked after the First XI was a guy called Eddy Brown , who had a decent professional career before he went into teaching

That year the Arsenal Youth Team were on a tour of the north west and through Eddy’s contacts he arranged a game with our First XI . They drew 0-0 which showed what a decent side PCC were that year .

My brother is 4 years older than me so it could have been 72/73 season
