Bloody pears again!🤬 Either catch it or punch it hard. If we had swapped keepers at the start we'd be home and dry!

I have to ask Are our lot fit enough? Too many out on their feet whilst Ipswich are still looking lively.

Pears
Poorly positioned for the first goal. Poor at judging when to rush out to clear, and when he occasionally is the first to the ball, his attempt to pass it clear always ends up as a catastrophe, as it did for their second. For Hirst's goal, Pears had acres of time and space to rush out to clear it, or at least get closer to the attacker to block the shot, but he stayed at home with a half-baked attempt to rush out. For their ultimate winning goal, he made a dreadful punch to the edge of the box when he could have easily caught the cross. The only positive was a good save early in the second half to keep us in the game somewhat. While I'm not convinced our style of play gives him the best protection, his individual errors cost us any chance of three points. It's time to give Leopold a go.

Brittain
Very good, yet again. Gets forward well and defends well.

Carter
Solid. He's been the better of our two central defenders so far this season. He got forward quite well, and took one for the team after a mistake by one of his teammates.

Hyam
As per his form so far this season, I think he's been poor by the standards you'd expect of him. Seems quiet when he should be leading the defence. Wasn't commanding enough in the air. Something seems up with him.

Pickering
He did get forward and help with the attack, but he is extremely slow at tracking back. That must annoy whoever is on the left forward position because it holds them back. Not the most effective going forward, and just unsuitable for the position he's asked to play.

Travis
Lovely assist for our first goal. There is a pattern emerging that he is basically f*cked after 60 minutes, but then we look more lost than we already do in midfield without him. We need Tronstad up to speed to alleviate his duties.

A Wharton
Same old story, and I think the pattern has well and truly settled. He is superb at making incisive passes, as he did today, but he is too lethargic and could easily have put the game out of sight when Ipswich should have made it 5-3. Looked like he'd run a marathon before the game because, like Travis, he was knackered for the majority of the second-half. I am still concerned that it is too much, too soon for him, and Buckley should have been the one cementing his place there this season.

Moran
Nice touches on the ball, but ineffective, and not great at defensive duties. I fear he is this season's Tyler Morton, and will be in the supporters' bad books very quickly if he doesn't do something outstanding to warrant his temporary stay here.

Szmodics
Superb equalising goal. He generally looks frustrated with everything that we do on the pitch. He looked out on his feet for the last quarter of the game. I think we are really stretched, which is quite worrying. We don't really have anybody else for his position.

Sigurdsson
Superb goal. Get the feeling he needs to get used to the pace of the Championship and the shit-housery. Think he would have stayed on longer if he hadn't earned himself a frustrated yellow card in the first half. Promising, and clearly a player of quality.

Leonard
Industrious and smart. Did well to force Clarke's hand for our second goal, and came close to grabbing one himself but for a fine save. I think he has the work rate and physique in future to play the lone striker role reliably, and more importantly than Gallagher, perhaps the intelligence or instinct of a proper striker. What a promising lad we have on our hands here.

As for the subs...

Dolan
Should have scored, but decided to pea-roll it to the 'keeper. This lad has been out of confidence for over a year. Or is he just not up to it? I can't tell, but I don't forget what I saw of him previously. He has been poor for a while, I'm afraid, and today was no different.

Hedges
Didn't see enough of the poor guy before his hamstring injury. I think we may have got something from the game with his experience in the final third had he stayed on the pitch.

Markanday
He's far more of a danger in the wide area than anybody else in our squad, and put some dangerous balls into the box. Didn't get into the game as much as I hoped, but he will no doubt get a chance with Hedges being injured.

Rankin-Costello
Didn't notice much from him, other than doing well not to lose the ball in the most dangerous of positions after a poor pass towards him.

Telalovic
For a lad of his size (Gallagher-esque), his touch on the ball is good. He's not getting much of a chance with his cameo performances, but I think they are fairly positive. Perhaps should have scored with a header, and it was surprisingly nice to see us whip a cross or two into him. Not seen that for a while!

Did I miss anybody?

An abysmal first half where our heads dropped too easily, and it ultimately cost us getting anything from the game. The Millwall away type of games don't happen too often. I was please with the second-half performance, and I could have sworn that we would go on to win it after pulling it back to 3-3, but tiredness in midfield and a continuation of poor decision-making by Pears cost us anything at all. Why didn't we bring on midfielders to bring some much-needed energy? I think that might have seen us through to come away with something.

I was actually wondering if Tomasson would bring Wahlstedt on at half-time. If he did, you couldn't say it wasn't deserved.

No doubt Wahlstedt will start against Cardiff City on Wednesday. Provided nothing disastrous happens on his part, I would hope that it's time for Tomasson to get his own signings into the first team.

I watched the game via a stream as I do not have internet at home I tether which is hit and miss, but from what I saw we played very well, to score 3 away from home deserves at least a point. That brings me to the defence ,the new keeper needs to play the next league game and Hill needs to start, I would play him instead of Hyam he is either carrying a injury or lost interest.I think we need a change in midfield, A.Wharton needs a rest, give him time to think about his game.Travis can play defensive mid and JRC more forward. We played one move down the right in the second half which was sublime, some of our football is a delight.

Shit waggy, Is that where we are looking for our goals these days?

Sorry waggy, that might have seemed a bit of a slight to you.
It wasn't meant that way, just that we appear to be lower league hunting.

Now the dust has settled we saw more evidence yesterday that JDT isn't the messiah that many people think he is. His midfield system just isn't working is it? Having to score 4 or more to win a game is for fools. Make no mistake we have become very brittle in defence, we've now leaked 3 to Plymouth and Sunderland and 4 now to Ipswich. What's more I am of the opinion that we could quite easily have let 3 in v Boro! As Einstein famously said "the definition of insanity is doing the same over and over and expecting a different result". We can't continue in this fashion can we? We are already nearer to the relegation places than the promotion chasing teams.

Yesterday was a nightmare showing by Pears. I don't like keepers who after making a rick costing a goal immediately look for an outfield player to make a scapegoat out of. I haven't seen Wahlstedt as yet but I fully expect him to be given the gloves on Wednesday.

Carter was OK but Hyam looked uncharacteristically unsure too. Time to see if Hill or Scott Wharton can provide an improvement. I'll absolve both Pickering and Brittain from criticism today but only just. They must be among the slowest full backs in the division!

Midfield? Somehow I'd be looking to include Garrett and JRC (possibly even Tronsdatd) in the starting line up with Moran and Travis making way. Moran is a pretty pretty player but he's of little use in the hurly burly of the Championship. Travis imo needs a few days off to rub witch hazel and Fiery Jack onto his bruises. Adam Wharton further fwd may or may not work but he's not doing well enough defensively in his current position is he?

Up front Hedges is obviously out for some time so the front 2 are any combination of Leonard, Szmodic, Telalovic, Markanday and Dolan.

After that I have to say that Ipswich looked stronger and fitter than our lot. They were winning most of the 50:50's all afternoon. A few Rovers players were clearly running on empty in the last 10 mins whilst Ipswich still appeared full of running. That must be addressed as a matter of urgency!
