I remember Starmer having a go at making Labour patriotic when he first became leader and getting their usual race card throwing hysteria in return. I know why he's doing it, a patriotic Labour would walk elections with the state of the Tories these days. But making complete assholes like Angela Rayner, Jess Phillips, Naz Shah, Dianne Abbott, Emily Thornberry and David Lammy into likeable patriots is a comically absurd endeavour.

I doubt labour will ever be able to overcome the loss of their Scottish contingent. By taking approx 50 seats off labour the Scottish nationalists have stymied labour's chances. If the tories are careful how they manage their new voters in the red wall I see labour as long term doomed. Trouble is can the London centric tories accept that their voters are 'ap nowf' in the provinces and most definitely NOT in the capital nor are they in Manchester, Liverpool and other major cities.
Politics is simple, when in power (with a massive majority) think first of the people who put you there and not the constituencies who didn't
