How pathetic from the EFL. ASFC players are on between £500-£600 per week except Billy Kee who is on £1200. It is not like they are big earners and a meal (except McD’s are disgusting ‘food’) is just a little thank you.

That takes me back! I remember similar stuff after going to Mansfield and winning in our promotion year under Kendall. It was little different back then. Rough mining town full of dead leg nutters.... just no scarves around their faces. Another 1-0 away win with I seem to rem Kendall scoring the winner. (How great would it be to have had a player like that bossing midfield this season?). Anyway it was an Easter fixture and lovely weather and 3 of us were in my car with the top down and stuck in a queue away from the ground (me, my 9 stone wet through mate and another pal's little brother). A group of 5 mansfield 'youth' were walking up the road kicking cars with Rovers fans in them. They got to my car, threw a rock the size of a tennis ball at my mate in the passenger seat whilst another was trying to drag the scarf of the little lad in the back. Pin came out well and truly and in a rage I dragged the handbrake on, leapt out and shot round the car to wade straight into them. I might have got a bit of a slapping against 5 but like most of that ilk they obviously didn't fancy being the first one in line and they turned and legged it with me in hot pursuit for about 3 or 4 car lengths. I rem my blood was well and truly up and to feeling cheated out of a scrap and well up for a rumble most of the way home.

I can even beat that WB. I scored with my first touch! Probably 5 or 6 seconds. It was prob my last season playing I came on after a corner was given with about 30 mins left, I hadn't even time to get in the box so lurked just outside the D as the corner came over, their CH headed a loping header out that I met on the volley with my 'swinger' foot and sent a screamer into the top rh corner. The reaction was an initial cheer which quickly turned into lots of 'Oh fucking hells' as I'd been grumpy about being named sub in the first place and they all knew I'd milk it. I didn't disappoint the buggers either!
