The first round draw of the Carabao Cup - ( League Cup to me n thee of old fart age), was a tad bonkers when Charlton Athletic were given 2 matches, a home tie against Cheltenham Town and an away tie with Exeter City.

I was in a bar near the Embankment tube station when two blokes came in with Chelsea scarves on so I went over to commiserate. I said that the Chelsea keeper should be sacked but they reckoned that Sarri should be the one to be sacked. They reckoned that you can't sack someone that you just bought for 75m which kinda puts a different slant on the stupid transfer values being spent on some players. No player should be untouchable or all player discipline will break down.
As for Sarri he might be on his way but Chelsea did make a good fight of it didn't they with only Luiz's pen hitting the post and rebounding out v Sterling's going in off the bar making the difference.

Interestingly when they asked who I supported one of the lads immediately said "you had a great striker a few years back ..... Garner" I had rather expected him to say Shearer so it was a nice to know that Simon is so well remembered 30 years after he hung his boots up.

That keeper tried hard to put Aguero off, partially worked as it was a poor penalty, but the fool let it dribble under him. Just loved the way Aguero pointed, laughed and took the piss.

I wanted Chelsea to win up to the brat throwing a wobble. Now he's claiming he was feigning cramp to wind down the clock, should have told Sarri of his tactics!

Mind you it made for good TV.

Man City currently tearing their neighbours a new one at Old Trafford! Ht 0-3!:joy:

I can't see OGS surviving this night unless there is a dramatic change in fortunes.

Is this thread restricted to one post per year? If so I've just broken the rules.

What a final today! Two evenly matched teams in Liverpool and Chelsea going head to head for 120 minutes with (good imo) goals disallowed by VAR time and again. I'd love to know what criteria they us to judge offside but it's stupid and crap. However I'd have to say this was the most entertaining and enthralling 0-0 final that I have ever seen. Liverpool won 11-10 but it was only decided by penalties and after 21 successful penalties poor Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga blazed his over the top. Probably serves Chelsea right for trying to be too clever and substituting the excellent Mendy on 119 minutes for penalty save 'specialist' Arrizabalaga who didn't manage to get close to even one. An excellent game and a masterclass in taking penalties under pressure.
