I have to say Dave, it's the first I've heard of it.
There were threats of a breakaway after the last TV deal was struck but that seemed to go away.

I hadn't heard that dave but that news doesn't surprise me one bit. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The reluctance of those on the Premier League gravy train to help the lower leagues out leaves the Championship with little option other than to do what is best for them.

The biggest problem that I see club's facing is that all this politicking and in-fighting does nothing to address the Elephant in the woodpile (sic) of the player's excessive remuneration. That does need addressing urgently as lots of league's 3 and 4 clubs should really be going part time. At the same time players and their agents in the Championship need to accept that the ridiculously good times have gone.
Lets look at a comparison, the 1000th ranked golfer in the world will earn a pittance, as will the equivalent tennis player, racing driver, jockey etc etc. Anybody care to guesstimate what the 1000th ranked footballer IN THE UK will be getting paid? My guess would be about the same in a week as those above get in a year.

Did Sheff Wed just pay over £20M to Liverpool for a player? No disrespect to Wednesday, a fine old club, with that kind of money, er "washing" around at some clubs, the writing's on the wall!

Sheff Wed should be playing First Division football this season but the EFL cocked up their points deduction and so had to stick it onto this season. That's why they are currently bottom with -7 points. I've no doubt they'll overcome that and 'survive' but it's all down to dodgy dealing, dodgepot owners and a weak EFL isn't it?

The 10 clubs include Derby, Stoke and Cardiff. Not exactly the elite. It sounds like their owners are desperate in these Covid times.
Clubs with ridiculously high wage bills. Two recently in the Prem who are facing life without a parachute and Derby who fund theirs by being well supported through the turnstiles. As my old Mother used to say... 'you have to cut your coat according to your cloth'.

Bearing in mind that the Premier League clubs get £100 to £150 million pounds EACH from Sky every season, that it a miserable offer, bearing in mind that there are conditions in that the EFL clubs are blackmailed into backing them against the FA on signing young players from the EU.

The Premier League is over-rated to the extreme. As we saw with their eagerness to get the league finished they were more concerned about the Worldwide TV money rather than 'the good of the game' as a whole.

It's basically a largely boring league for foreign glory hunters and it wouldn't make any difference if it was played in England or Abu Dhabi.

Real football fans know The Championship is the most competitive league in the World. So maybe they should be getting more cash.

I'd agree with your final sentence Husky but I'd never describe the results of the Man Utd / Spurs and Villa/Lpool games last week as 'boring'. :)

Almost agree with you there Drog, but spurs doing it is a bit soft. Villa tubbing the scousers tickles my fancy more..

Both well funny. What eternally aggravates me is that 90% of post match discussion was an inquest about what Man U / Liverpool were / have been doing wrong and only about 10% on what Spurs and Villa were doing right.
