I hadn't heard that dave but that news doesn't surprise me one bit. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The reluctance of those on the Premier League gravy train to help the lower leagues out leaves the Championship with little option other than to do what is best for them.
The biggest problem that I see club's facing is that all this politicking and in-fighting does nothing to address the Elephant in the woodpile (sic) of the player's excessive remuneration. That does need addressing urgently as lots of league's 3 and 4 clubs should really be going part time. At the same time players and their agents in the Championship need to accept that the ridiculously good times have gone.
Lets look at a comparison, the 1000th ranked golfer in the world will earn a pittance, as will the equivalent tennis player, racing driver, jockey etc etc. Anybody care to guesstimate what the 1000th ranked footballer IN THE UK will be getting paid? My guess would be about the same in a week as those above get in a year.
