Man-made Climate Change

You heard it here first folks.... https://roversfans.com/index.php?threads/man-made-climate-change.919/post-49200

Only common sense to put up leki and gas etc to levels that will make people use less.
From today's front pages (Daily Telegraph}:

I used to work with an American, from California, who once heard an interview with the Queen, or another senior member of the Royal Family. He recounted that the Royal said, whenever it gets chilly at Balmoral / Sandringham etc, 'one would put on a cardigan, or a pullover'. He and his family were surprised at this revelation, but whenever it got a 'little chilly', they had repeated, and followed, the mantra ever since...

Oh god that original post is embarassing, totally forgot about that. Must have been brainwashed…for about a week. Back to normal and severely irritated by the feckless hippies pratting about in Dover and on M25. Yeah ok we need to tackle climate change but XR and co are just bloody irritating.

Lots of stuff on the COP agenda this week. Questions will be asked why small countries like ourselves are taking ever more expensive measures whilst the likes of China the world's worst polluter are not bothering to pull their weight. Simple answer imo is for the world to have less reliance on Chinese goods. China's current prosperity appears to be unashamedly being channeled into military might anyway as they unashamedly seek World dominance and that cannot be good can it?
So either voluntarily resist buying Chinese goods or governments need to place swingeing import restrictions and tariffs on goods from China.

Or from any country that does not pull it's weight.

I will not touch anything French and try to do the same with China although it is far more difficult with them given numerous components are Chinese. I always check when I buy new underpants and prefer those made by a Thai lady rather than in a Chinese sweatshop.

In ten years, when you buy your next underpants, things might have changed 😜

So they’ve decided to ‘phase down’ coal mining instead of ‘ phasing out ‘ coal mining and as a result they’re crying and apologising. Thank god the whole Cop 26 charade is over and the hypocrites , narcissists and virtue signallers can all fly home .

We now need to open that coal mine in Cumbria to supply our steel and concrete industries. Otherwise we’ll be lugging coal on trains and barges from the other side of the world - not great for the environment.

I'm something of a greeny and absolutely can't stand the extinction rebellion lot.

Middle class luvvies, the old ones on gold-plated pensions and probably retired 20 years ago, blocking working class people getting to work, seeing their family or having some well deserved fun.

Whilst not touching the industrial output of China etc with a bargepole, not touching the high birth rate of certain demographics with a bargepole, and not touching their own pampered lifestyles with a bargepole.

I'd like to think I'm not a socipath, but if I saw that one of them had been run over on the news, I'd honestly laugh.

Looking like photo-voltaic might be my next investment. Not much daylight at the moment but the pay back is est within 4 years which I don't know how it can be calculated accurately without knowing a. How much electricity will cost in the future and b. How much the feed in tariff will rise, as it surely must.

Drog, we have a PV system, had it since 10/16.
It's been good for us, saved us heaps, though it cost about $10,000. FiT's have been dropping here, we started with 12c perKWh, we're down to 5c at the moment.
You will find, that with an increased take up, the energy companies will start to complain, and say the grid can't cope.
My advice is, when you do get a PV system, make sure it's as big as you can afford (ours is a 6kwh). It generates about 34kwhs per day, of which about 25 goes into the grid. Also consider installing batteries.
Energy prices are on the rise here, and I've just been advised by my current supplier that my contract is coming to an end, so I've been doing research.
We have an agency that allows you to find alternative suppliers. Based on what my smart meter says, my last bill, using the updated pricing suggests it would now cost me anywhere between $220 to $273 per quarter, I did pay $192, so the price has increased by about 15%. FiT's range from 4.4cents to 8cents, but at least one supplier says they will pay up to 11 cents in certain circumstances.
Obviously with summer almost upon us, our energy bills should reduce, and the amount being fed back into the grid will reduce our bill even further.
