My favourite ever car was a Golf GLi convertible. Only a 1.6 injection but in it's time was quicker from a standing start that most things on the road. I did a set of front tyres in in 6 months. Good job it was a company car.

Whats the penalty for being a sh1t driver with neither awareness or courtesy for other road users.? They live and breed amongst us and I can spot them all day long.

It was bound to happen with people sharing driving licenses

You'd soon get a mod on your case for that remark in another existence.

Needless to say I'll let you off.;)

I had a Honda S800 for a while, quicker than an E Type up to 50MPH, rev a lot they used to call them, wish I still had it

Can't be bothered with top gear but I watched an episode of the grand tour tonight. They were driving around Italy in an Aston Martin, a Roller and some vulgar American sports car doing 6 miles to the gallon, and I thought it was absolutely pathetic. Just the same tired old cliched format. Maybe the entire concept has had it's day.

I thought The Grand Tour was amazing . The celeb thing was a bit overdone but the rest I enjoyed.

What do I drive these days?
Current set of wheels is a Holden (GM) Calais Station Wagon. V6 3.6 litre, auto, all leather upholstery, Tinted windows, tow bar, Bluetooth, sat nav, rear camera and sensors, aircon of course. Only bought it cause the guys I go to golf with complained about my previous car being too small, ( a Subaru Impreza hatchback, great car to drive).
Got this current one at the car auctions in the ACT, less than two years old (5 year warranty) at less than half the price of a new one. Would never buy a new car again, generally because of the government taxes.

Govt taxes? Sounds good.... we have to make do with Super B and 24/7.

As for me VW Passat Est AllTrack. Usual stuff as dave's above but the standard equipment includes an off road 4x4 feature and an automatic parking facility (quite good but I rarely need to use it tbh) .
Er indoors has a Mini, She loves it, it's well screwed together too but it's a dreadful drive imo. I'de never want one of those thats for sure.

Got a VW Tiguan with lots off extras, good car but it is going back when the lease buy period is up. Not happy with what VW are doing re emissions in the UK. The USA are streets ahead on the issue. Will probably go back to a Merc. I still miss the 420 SE, a 2 ton racing car :)

Top Gear is actually improving, the DB11 thing around Bond was really good, it's the presenters that will make or break the show. They just don't have the chemistry that Clarkson & Co had, Le Blanc is ok and Chris Harris is sort of ok but the black guy ? Don't know his name but he's as deep as a teaspoon. 70's sports cars "sucked" and a Volks 'Waggon'

first car was a 7 year old Fiat 127 in that horrible old fiat green, sprayed it matt black (looked good when it rained, otherwise not so much ). Was a fantastic car went all over the country in it following Rovers.

Currently driving a 5 year old Skoda Yeti TDI which I have had from new (funnily enough went to look at them when they arrived over here after seeing them on the old Top Gear). Apart from a dud battery and a headlight lightbulb changed never missed a beat although like Yoda not impressed with dodgy VW cheat software. Will be avoiding VW brands in the future because of the way they are taking the p*** in the Australian courts over it, but wont be looking to change for at least a couple of years.
