Migglesbrough V Rovers: 16th March 2024

Global winner of the 2021 Christmas Quiz 👊🤩🤩
This weekend sees the Waggoty bus ending its way up to the land of the Mogga, the mighty Middlesbrough.

I have decided to give the Rovers ticket office a tinkle (not before 11am in case I wake them from their slumbers) and buy a ticket for this so so important match. Both teams have problems. Boro are struggling to pay staff wages whilst Rovers are involved in a relegation death wish….I have no idea where our next points will come from unless we bribe the referee; perhaps plying Gilsenan will help as he can’t be my worse them some of the dross played by a number of our regular forest team players.

Do you remember when the wheels fell off the Rovers bus?
We were heading for a win but there was no stopping us
I fell head over heels but that wasn't enough
And now the bolts that bind us have all just turned to rust
I wonder what's under your bandages
We speak the same words in different languages
Just say the word and I'll help you to unfreeze
But it's so hard when you don't know the word for please
The wheels just fell off the Waggoty bus

(words thanks to The Hoosiers)

What will happen this Saturday? Will we have yet another dreadful display? Will Gallagher win a header? Will Gallagher find the net?

I predict a narrow Rovers 3-0 defeat followed by ’Useless’ Eustace repeating “togetherness” and “we are in the sh!t together” 15 times followed by “….we need 4 points per game to stay up”.

PS. I am not travelling by bus.

We have to win one eventually. Hopefully Pears will be back. 2 - 1 to Rovers.

2-1 :worried: Seems Boro are another club teetering on the edge of financial breakdown. We can whinge at the Premier League clubs all we want but they don't agree stupid contracts with poor to average players do they?

A reverse of the home fixture 2-1 Boro
At Ewood we should have been 6 up in the first twenty minutes - Im sorry guys - I miss that JDT football - it was scintillating that day

Me too. For a short time we were exciting to watch. Oh well.

Team news:

: Pears, Brittain, Hyam (c), Wharton, Pickering, Buckley, Tronstad, Sigurdsson, Szmodics, Hedges, Gallagher

Subs: Wahlstedt, Dolan, Koumetio, Markanday, Moran, Garrett, Telalovic, Ayari, Chrisene

looks like 4-3-3 to me

3 wins on the spin have put Boro back in contention for the play-offs so we are no longer playing what may have been a mid table beach soccer team.

I cannot really see us getting anything from Boro no matter what the recent stats say. Then again this is the Championship so anything could happen and Boro could have their "only x points off the play-offs nosebleed".

One thing for sure is that if we go there with a defensive mindset and especially play that 5 at the back crap we will get battered.

3-1 to Boro.

I would bite a hand off for a 0-0.

Wednesday losing at Ipswich and Stoke losing at home to Norwich. Oh yeah . . . . . .

Apart from a goal for us if Carlsberg made half-times, it is almost there. . . .

Big Club losing, Plymouth losing, Sheffield Wednesday losing, Stoke losing.

We are up a place in the live table . . . . 👌

Well, yet another draw although Boro should have scored near the end. They were terrible and there for the taking today. Gally was immense practically leading the line on his own and it was interesting to hear Szmodics saying this week that if the team plays how he plays then he will score. We spent too much time today sitting back when it was clear from the early stages that we outpaced Boro up top. We are still stuck in it.
