Glad to see it's not just me then :)

Just tried to read about it again. I get the bit about the nations being split into 4 leagues based on their current ranking.
Each league is then split up into smaller groups and there are promotions and relegations and the winners play off in a final four for the overall champion.
There are also places at the Euros up for grabs, although this isn't a direct qualifying tournament for the Euros.

This link shows which countries are in which group and that's about all I can reliably take in at the moment :D

Haven't really studied this but I can't imagine clubs and Manager's will be all that thrilled about yet more matches for their stars.

Will this mean additional International breaks as it runs alongside other competitions.
;)
Like others say its all new and ultra complex.

Offers 4 Euro places. It's feasible that all the top seeds placed in NL Binliner Group A could qualify anyway via the proper Euro qualifiers in which the spot is passed down the foodchain.

So a team who fails via the Euro qualifiers and via being one of the 4 via the Nations League could still be at the Euro Finals.

I give absolutely no guarantee that my interpretation is even remotely correct

I watched and enjoyed the youth and womens international comps this summer.

Dreaded the start of our L2 experience but now watching more PL and CL

If anyone is remotely interested in this, we've been drawn in a group with Spain and Croatia.

That's all I know and really not too bothered about looking more into the rules right now

Fantastic hat trick from Ronaldo. He really is the best player that I have ever seen.

btw England v Holland is always a good affair but does anyone know what this Nations League is all about... apart from another money spinning event? Lots moan about too much football being played and UEFA spring another fairly pointless competition on us.

We still haven't a clue how to defend a lead can we? Despite the press and media froth Southgate is turning into just another tosser! Reason is........ despite evidence to the contrary he continues to pick the abysmal John Stones. Maguire isn't the best that's for sure but hopefully tonight will be the last time I have to watch Stones in an England shirt apologising to another team mate for yet another rick! Tonight I had to watch that bloody liability screw up 3 times for 3 goals! When I was a lad the first rule for any defender was to defend! How is it that I spotted his ineptitude 3 years ago yet Southgate et al still can't see it?

I can’t understand this modern trend/ fashion for playing out from the back , especially when you have dollopers like Stones and Maguire .

Get the ball to the midfield or forwards as soon as possible either via short or long passes and play your football in the opposition half .

I’m always amused when Championship defences try to mess about playing this ‘passing game’ when the players who are expected to play it can barely trap a bag of cement .

Stones and Maguire not being good enough players to play in a midfield back 3 either. Even worse is the fact that Stones either never or isn't prepared to learn from his mistakes. It may have been done but if not then I really wish the BBc / Sky or whoever would put together a video of his cock ups for Everton, City and England. It could be used in coaching manuals and video's designed for youngsters of what NEVER to do. Oh wait!

Shearer / Phil Neville debate on Stones. Who do you believe?
but he does have a kagoule!

Re: Maguire I recall Jack Charlton our 1966 'proper' centre half combing well with Bobby Moore who was much more a defensive play maker. It obviously worked well but wor Jack, great ball winning defender that he was would never have even dreamed of playing triangles in his own half never mind his own penalty area.

btw Southgate should be on his knees begging Vardy to change his mind and 'unretire'.

Reading the press today and it seems Southgate left out the Liverpool lads because he felt they would be suffering fatigue. The Dutch on the other hand just played their best team which included Liverpool players! Simple eh? Today he's in the press blaming Stones suicidal play because of... FATIGUE! This is despite him not starting regularly for Man City since the New Year!

There's also a big debate going on about Englands determination to pass the ball out of defence rather than mix it up a bit. https://talksport.com/football/554872/netherlands-england-brainwashed-sam-allardyce/
As I keep saying there is no such thing as a long ball or a short ball there are just good passes and bad ones! Big Sam's bang on......... “Playing it out from the back is fine, when you can do it,” the ex-England boss said “But I think there’s a brainwashing going on in terms of playing out from the back, that it had to be done every single time, and it’s wrong. “The player then believes he has to do it every single time, and every time that happens it creates more and more risk, so if the opposition are squeezing you you’re bound to be under pressure. “That’s when you make mistakes, and that’s exactly what we saw last night. “There were more than two errors in the final third, it could have been three or four goals because of those basic errors made in the final third. “That cannot be what you continue to tell your players, that you must only play it out from the back all the time. There is a time when you must clear your lines, push up the pitch and put pressure on the opposition.”

Perry Groves made great points too in that link. Shearer in the link above and now Pro after Pro are expressing my long held opinion that Stones will never be an international class defender. He just refuses to bloody learn from his own mistakes!
He's not alone with that either cos Southgate refuses to learn too! Dele Alli is becoming a busted flush and has even stopped flattering to deceive whilst Harry Kane's form and influence has dipped alarmingly. With the Dutch pressing us back who better to have on the last defenders shoulders than Jamie Vardy? Rashford and Lingard are good players without a doubt but Vardy will be the one opponents fear most.
As for the midfield berth. Loftus Cheek would be a cert but for his injury but I don't see Dier, Barclay, Winks nor anybody else as a midfielder who can boss the midfield by taking the ball off his defenders, carry it forward and make all sorts of passes long, short, over the top, down the channels with amazing vision and accuracy and with a howitzer shot... yet Southgate refuses to select Jonjo Shelvey.
He's going to spew the progress he made in the World Cup if he isn't careful.
