Anyone got any good idea we can pass on to Trump? Not looking good at the moment really. Some strange articles blaming Trump only, I'm not sure it is his fault the little dictator is making a nuclear arsenal. Some of the blame must lie with other US presidents who have sat by waiting and done nothing, What about China do they not hold the key to this. Come on roversfans.com should have enough brain power to sort this out without a nuclear war.

Standard reasoning which people would apply to any of their day-to-day confrontations would put 99% of the blame on North Korea. Kim Jong-un is following the age-old technique of maintaining an iron grip on his people by presenting them with a common, almost entirely fabricated, enemy. That some western media are pushing the line that its all Trump’s fault just shows the extreme bias of the political left.

It’s interesting that you say some blame must lie with former US presidents for failing to act. In that case I’d say some blame lies with every anti-war protestor, marcher or activist in the western world. All those who kicked up a fuss about Iraq have ushered in a new ultra-tentative approach from western governments where even Islamic State couldn’t be effectively dealt with, never mind North Korea.

I don’t think there are any good options at this stage; an aggressive, posturing, unstable nuclear power can only be approached in 2 ways in my opinion. Firstly the way presidents prior to Trump did, 80% ignore and 20% talk tough in the forlorn hope that North Korea’s leaders eventually get bored of acting like dickheads. Or Trump’s approach, say we’re sick of this and threaten to wipe them off the map if they attack.

It is a tough one for sure with large Cities in the South being so close to motar fire and rockets etc..You would have thought China would have some influence on this, I'm sure they don't really want the US on their border if a war breaks out but I'm also sure they would like to see the back of Kim. Perhaps they need to take action and annex the North off into China someway. I'm sure Kim would rather not get wipped off the map but if it is going that way he would rather go down in a blaze than a whimper and everything will be launched.

If they do fire off warning shots to the US bases then Trump surely has to fire back, at least a limited strike, then what the bombs start landing on South Korea?

If they are silly enough to take on the US, then if I were them (the US) I wouldn't respond with missiles, I'd respond in kind. Some nasty poison being administered via a spy, covert agent ala Kim Jong-un himself. The guy is a complete crackpot and quite frankly I think dictators should be removed by whatever means. But you need to ensure it is put back together afterwards, as we can ill afford another ISIS blooming.

North korea have changed rulers and matters have escalated further since his arrival, passive attempts have failed and to continue with them will only lead to further failure to resolve the situation. Trump would appear to be trying a new approach, we will see what happens.

You'd martyr him and seriously piss off China. Kimmy is doing right; he's seen that those despots without nuclear weapons get removed in the end whilst those that do, or suspected in having them are left alone. He knows full well that once he can prove they are capable of successfully using a nuclear weapon then it's game over, he's going nowhere.

I don't think Kimbo would strike against the US, the consequences would be unthinkable.

One thing to think about; we have a legal obligation to defend Japan so any action in that area would require our involvement.

I don't think the Fat Boy* needs anymore fawning support / hero worship than he already has tbh.

*The term 'Fat Boy' being kinda significant in that neck of the woods eh?

Seems like the answer was leave it to Trump. When will he get his noble peace prize? Love him or hate him so far he seems to got this one right. Couple of articles below, praise for Trump (almost) from the Guardian!

If he pulls this off some of those liberal/lefty outlets are going to look very stupid indeed.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5662577/Kim-Jong-prepares-walk-history-Korean-summit.html

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/27/summit-north-south-korea-peace-kim-jong-un

The two leaders solemnly declared before the 80 million Korean people and the whole world that there will be no more war on the Korean Peninsula and thus a new era of peace has begun.

South and North Korea confirmed the common goal of realising, through complete denuclearisation, a nuclear-free Korean peninsula. South and North Korea shared the view that the measures being initiated by North Korea are very meaningful and crucial for the denuclearisation of he Korean peninsula and agreed to carry our their respective roles and responsibilities in this regard. South and North Korea agreed to actively seek the support and cooperation of the international community for the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
