Where is the insult Alan ? All I'm saying is you've probably done very well out of rising house prices (like everyone else) over the course of your lifetime - - free of tax. Is giving a little back too much to ask ?
Don't be a pillock. What's the use of rising house prices when you need to live in the house? Would you like me to donate the front room? You don't half type some crap at times. How much have you donated?

Spot on Al.
If you sell and realise that profit, you have to buy back into the same market and pay a price that will soak up most, if not all, of your profit.
It's either that or move to a poorer district.
Some people have no appreciation of the consequences of making a profit, selling, and buying back in.

Apart from anything else I think most of us have done our bit for youth. I know it cost me an arm and a leg to help my two sons onto the housing market, buying them cars and putting one of them through Uni. The other one chose a different path.

Rising house prices have made you much wealthier, probably to the tune of six figures or more, because you were lucky to be born at the right time.

The Brexit pensioners have already jeopardised future of the younger generation - the millenials - by voting to leave the EU. The least you can do is say sorry by giving a tiny proportion of your unearned wealth back.

What John doesn't understand is that owning ASSETS doesn't equate to increased income.
Ever heard of the phrase "Asset rich Income poor".

Stick to what you know John. reporting from Barnet Town Hall and writing pithy headlines, oh and taking Murdoch's shilling

You're being stupid again. I'm not richer I just have a house to live in. The value is irrelevant as I can't sell it as I'd have nowhere to live. Is that too much for you to understand? How much is your house in the Ribble Valley worth?

The value of one's home is irrelevant of course as
a. as a single residence it does not represent a liquid asset.
and
b. houses are already taxed on their value through stamp duty, the dreadfully unfair council tax and ultimately inheritance tax.
Unless there can be inroads made into the tax avoidance of the likes of Amazon and google I'd say that taxation has run it's course in the No11's front door and the way forward is to keep thye back door shut with more austerity measures and government cutbacks to many unnecessary public services and hand outs etc.

btw Might be better if you put less antagonism and more thought into your comments John.
