The way they have changed Dr who to Ms Who I'd suggest Sylvester Cat to be the new Lassie

I imagine with good reason that the new Dr Who will be either lesbian or Bi-sexual.
Am I alone in believing that the BBC's mission is to instill into the minds of the young that heterosexual relationships are OK ish but not really normal. The message that the young are being bombarded with is "I quite like sex with women but it's not as good as the real thing"! Even more normal if it involves people of different racial background.

You are not alone :) The BBC wants everyone to think that any relationship is normal, every culture is perfectly fine and that the sun is always shining, unless that is you are a Tory or even worse a white male Tory :)

I don't care who is Dr Who and I don't understand why it is such big news that it is a Woman. We have femail doctors don't we?

My problem is the fact that they have to talk about it like it is a glass cealing moment, the first gay, the first black, the first asian, the first 'insert someone not white or straight'. These have all been done years ago by real hero's not highly paid TV stars and MP's.

The only time we will get rid of '-isams' is when we stop talking about it, they are just people!! Black MP Diane Abbot (no just an MP), Gay presenter Clare Balding (no just presenter) the list goes on and on. Keep singling out the difference and the difference will remain.

Sorry what a crap post in the middle of a fun thread!

Err Owen Coyle Rover manager now there is an odd one.

Its pretty much fine by me. Although as ever with these things I am sceptical about the level of consistency, namely would the feminists have been as welcoming to a classic female lead being replaced with a bloke? Say if they made Ripley a guy halfway through the Aliens franchise?

I seriously doubt they’d have welcomed that in the slightest. But I suppose the justification for the apparent double-standards is that there are already more male lead characters in entertainment so positive discrimination is required to even it up. Tricky one that, not sure whether I agree with it or not.

I remind you of my earlier posts where it appears there is an agenda by the producers of Dr Who and Torchwood to normalise every minority whether racial or sexual and challenge the status quo within our society. It targets the mainstream children's audience and is on prime time Sat evening TV way before the watershed. Call me old fashioned but that is not exactly what I would wish for our children.
